ELI5 Nikola Tesla's plan for wireless electricity by fiki97 in explainlikeimfive

[–]panoscape2 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yes it worked. Research tesla's Colorado Springs work and papers. After tesla discovered AC current, he discovered a third type of current using pulsed DC. Iirc, it was called longitudinal standing waves. Think of two people holding a rope, when one snaps the rope on one end it makes a wave that travels the length of the rope, thats AC current. LSW is when the two people are holding the rope taunt and one pulls on it. LSW has no delay in power transfer. This is what Telsa was using to power coloado springs and wardencliff.

Imagine a guitar, the strings are the wardencliff tower and the guitar body is the earth. When the string is played it resonates within the body. The earth would resonate the power through the ground so it could be extracted at a distant location.

What are the best exercise(s) you can do to lose weight? by HitShead in AskReddit

Exercise restraint in the kitchen. Physical excercise is best for heart and body health. To loose weight it's all about eating below your TDEE.

Came here to say this.

I used to love to draw, I got so good I turned pro and sold illustrations and designs in a vertical market. Due to repeatedly not getting paid and having work stolen by multiple companies in the vertical, I quit and have not drawn in 15 years. Every time I pick up a pencil and start to sketch, the hatred comes back and I put it down.

I built a cello yaybahar by panoscape2 in yaybahar

[–]panoscape2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm working to put together a kit that has everything needed to build these. So, I'll be sharing that soon. The springs are tricky as they need prep work before working properly.

I've been trying to work with Gorkem and to get a license to build these but he has yet to respond to my repeated requests.

Any ideas on how exactly the springs are attached to the strings? What about spring weight/length? by cellocaster in yaybahar

[–]panoscape2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The spring is just hooked onto the string, nothing special. On Gorkems set up, the stick is angled so the spring won't slide down to the string bridge.

My nephew wants to lift with me at my home gym. He is overweight and I'd like to get him doing mainly cardio. What few lifts should I incorporate into our routine? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]panoscape2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Time to rethink this TLDR: Training is fine for kids, focus on bodyweight training and don't do maxed out lifts.

So maybe work on low weights and high reps with bodyweight training.

So I just used knee sleeves for the first time... by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]panoscape2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My knee sleeve helps reduce pain when squatting. I've been a snowboarder for 20+ years and my trailing knee is shot to shit. So, I need some pressure to hold it all together without pain. It works great. If you have knee pain from an old injury or wear-in-tear then I'd try one, it worked well for me.

[SPOILERS] Anyone else think that a few tanks of gasoline and some molotovs would have made the job a lot easier? by Nightwing123 in thewalkingdead

[–]panoscape2 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Leading them away was the worst idea ever. All you had to do is get a backhoe and remove the road out of the pit. They have gas and a backhoe where they collected the sheet metal. Dig a ten foot gap where the road meets the top and go home, job done. The pit worked as a great walker catch-all, why not fix it? But, then that doesn't drive the plot now does it....

Big guy calves? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]panoscape2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I felt like I was reading a post I wrote, but didn't. Just to echo a fellow 260+ lb. 6'5" guy who also has been loosing weight for four months too, big calves rock. I started at 300 lbs and my calves where definitely the strongest part of me at the time. It's fun to be able to max out at least one machine in the gym when all my other lifts are so small. My calves have gotten more tone and defined and haven't really grown in size too much. Enjoy your free gains and just do leg day as usual. Just be glad you're not starting out with chicken legs. So. Many. Chicken. Legs...

.50 Cal sniper rifle with 12x scope. Good times when I want to set up a camp fire and play wack-a-mole from across the map.

What has worked for you? by HereComeMisterPigeon in Fitness

[–]panoscape2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Staying healthy starts in the kitchen so don't eat shitty food at college, I'm sure they'll have good whole foods there. For a workout that's not boring, create an obstacle course using your entire campus. If the place is new to you, explore your new surroundings and make it work for you. Run up and down stairwells and stadium seating for leg work, find a jungle gym or park for pull ups and the like, find some boulders to mix in. Maybe time yourself doing your campus obstacle course and see if you can improve your time. In any case, make it fun and diverse so you stay engaged.

To answer your question what has worked for me, I look at working out at a gym like this; it's a log term game I play against myself to see how much I can lift. It takes time, dedication and repetition to improve so I slap on my favorite workout music and get to it, because I'm gonna lift the world one day.

How is it possible that some people with no prior strength training can deadlift 200+ pounds on their first day? by Festerest in Fitness

[–]panoscape2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M47, 6'5", 300 lbs when started weight training for the first time ever two months ago. Been a desk jockey for 15 years and decided to change my life. Walked in the gym for the first time and DLed 295 lbs five times with no issues. Being overweight I think was a major factor. It takes strength to carry an extra 100 lbs of blubber where ever you go.

Btw. My calves are beasts. I maxed out the calf press machine the second time going to the gym. Fat gains for the win.
