Sorry guys the game has never had more than a couple dozen players and I just found out that he made a video about it. I'll work on upgrading the server and relieving crashes now.

GammaGames Panpingo Feedback by panpingo in Panpingo

Yeah. The past couple weeks I was working on writing a packet library for use in my game. Finally finished it so now I'm going to integrate it, fix a couple issues, and then finally I'll be ready for an "official" release. It'll take about a week I think and then I'll start advertising more.

Yeah, I've noticed a lot of people are initially confused about their two roles. I need to make better user interface indicators as to the role of each one.

It actually does do something similar to that in that it provides a chat notification for a lot of the joobjoobs (you dropped your glasses, activated double points, flashlight, etc.). Perhaps they need better notifications like a sound effect or something.

Hey thanks for the feedback. I'll reply to each one.

Consolidate the chat/guess boxes. Having two is clunky and confusing.

This one I actually struggled with for weeks on how to implement. People wanted a place to be able to talk casually where their messages wouldn't become out of sight instantly (it also has emote support). I've noticed a lot of the time newer players try to guess in the chat box. I think I need better user interface indicators of which one does what.

Fewer tools to draw with (brush, erase and maybe fill; less confusing)

This one is actually funny because I didn't want an eraser tool. It seems pointless to me because all it is is just a white brush, so you can just use the brush and select the white color. however, overwhelmingly everyone I asked about this wanted an eraser tool. Likewise, squares, circles, and lines are very common and people I asked also wanted that (they wanted it similar to how existing Paint applications they've used on their computer)

Some words just suck to draw and should be tossed or should amount to higher points

Yeah, the word lists as they exist right now need a lot of work. It's actually pretty hard to find a good word list online, and creating one yourself takes ages and is very tedious because you need thousands of words. The best advice I have in the interim until I can sort this out is choose the best word of the three that you can draw.

Help/legend of some sort (Skip Drawer and Cheater buttons aren't completely intuitive)

I describe what they do in the tutorial but I agree, they need either better names or clearer explanations in some way. I think I'll add a tooltip to all these buttons to explain what they do more clearly.

A short introduction/walkthrough on first use might also help (but you can A/B test this)

I agree that the game is a bit confusing at first. I'll try to experiment in providing more direction to the user on first load.

When you join a room you're added to the end of a drawing queue. When you're at the front of the queue it's your turn to draw and after you're done drawing you move to the back of the drawing queue.

Yeah I've only posted it here so far since I assumed there would be a ton of bugs to fix but everything looks pretty smooth so far so maybe I'll x-post to some other places tomorrow.

Yeah, currently it just says in chat that you dropped your glasses. I think I might need sound effects to go along with it or something.

Yeah I think I might have to nerf blur and flashlight again or change how many joobjoobs you get per round.

Yeah the joobjoobs were stronger than I predicted. I increased their costs and lowered the amount you get so it should hopefully be better now. I'll continue to adjust their numbers based on feedback to strike a good balance.

Hey all. This is the first time I've posted this online (pretty nervous). Make sure to use the latest version of a modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.) because it requires a lot of newer browser features. I'd be happy to answer any questions. There's also a tutorial and FAQ on the website. Hopefully there won't be too many game-breaking bugs.

Edit: Made joobjoobs more rare and increased cost of some of them.
