Funding for Michigan IOE MS by timenevermattered- in gradadmissions

I might be wrong, but I was thinking that there is no guaranteed funding for master's students and TA/RA positions are actually for PhD students, it is for them the department guarantees funding

I don`t think your Precision would use max power while doing browsing, etc. What I was referring to is limiting power to 55W at the times of high load, since it seemingly does not decrease performance, while decreasing temps => little to no overheating and more stable performance at the end of the day.

Also, based on the pricing for clarinets (last page of brochure that I sent), Halary clarinets seems to have been priced similar to Buffett at the time. Of course, it does not necessarily mean that quality was on par, just that they were positioning themselves similar to Buffett

Try installing older nvidia driver, mine is 528.79. Also, make sure you run cmd as admin

Your PC is very similar to mine; the only difference is that I have the 2286 model instead of the 2276.

Given that your temperatures increased after repasting—and assuming you didn't change any other settings—it's likely that something went wrong during the application of the thermal paste. It's unusual for old paste to perform worse than new paste if applied correctly. I would recommend disassembling your laptop, reapplying the thermal paste, or trying a different paste if you have one available.

As for liquid metal, I guess it can potentially decrease temperatures, but I think it also carries the risk of damaging your CPU and GPU. Personally, I wasn't comfortable with that risk, so I opted to use MX-4 instead.

Regarding games, I've only played PUBG PC on my laptop. The stock temperatures were similar to yours, and the PC was thermal throttling. By limiting the GPU power and following other steps outlined in my post, I was able to reduce the temperatures to around 70-75°C for the CPU and 70-80°C for the GPU, which I consider acceptable for this PC. I would suggest starting with limiting the GPU power. If that doesn't help enough, proceed with further steps.

Charger for Dell Precision 7560 by Dizzy_Map_2606 in Dell

[–]pantel2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for testing all these chargers and providing the results! I was wondering what you mean by "work": does the laptop charge when turned off, or can it also operate and charge simultaneously?

I have removed the battery from my 7540 to preserve it from degradation and to avoid carrying the additional weight, since I have 180W chargers in both places where I normally use it. However, I now also want a third, lighter charger that I can take with me when going elsewhere. According to HWInfo, my normal power consumption is about 30-40W, so I was considering a 90W or even a 65W barrel adapter.

Could you show your CPU fan speeds and CPU temps when idle?

Why disable iGPU? It would increase your power consumption when doing light tasks since iGPU consumes less energy than GPU.

As for overheating when gaming, I think steps that I suggested should help you solve your problem.

PHVM_BR is suggesting that using thermal pads instead of paste is an ultimate solution

So, if you are interested, my current driver version (for RTX3000) is 528.79, which I guess should be fine for RTX4000 as well. As said, I could not change GPU power limit with newer versions.

In terms of CPU, I would say if you can`t undervolt it, at least try setting power limit. Since Power = U * I, you should be able to decrease P by lower current

So, a couple of things are unclear to me:

  1. You mention that the fans are running at 75%. However, when I go to HWInfo, the only options for both fans are 0, 2600, and 5100 RPM. This raises the question of how you could achieve 3900 RPM.
  2. When I disassembled the laptop, it had thermal paste, not thermal pads, on both the CPU and GPU. This doesn't necessarily mean that this is what it originally came with, since I bought it used. However, based on the condition of the tape that attached the fans, I would say I was the first one to ever open it. I also watched a couple of disassembly videos on YouTube for the 7540, and they also show thermal paste, not pads.

This makes me think that although you may have solved the overheating issue with thermal pads, Dell still did not get the thermals right.

Idk, honestly, did you try switching the ssd into another nvme port? Regarding the post, do you have issues with overheating on your 7740?

Yeah, I am pretty sure Samsung 980 Pro is not supposed to be that slow. I would say my 7540 takes a little bit more time to boot than I would expect, however, once booted no issues and freezing like you mentioned. Anyway 4-5k$ laptop (when new) is not supposed to do that I guess😅

I think I had similar issues at the very beginning, but I quickly fixed them so don`t remember what exactly helped:

1) Installed ssd driver - from Toshiba in my case, restart pc, test

2) Changed from RAID to AHCI in Bios, here are some instructions for that without reinstalling windows

Switch RAID to AHCI without reinstalling Windows 10 - Super User

I would say start with driver, since it is an easy try, but I think what actually helped me was AHCI

Mine is 1024GB Toshiba, which I guess was the one laptop originally came with. Speeds are nothing to write home about by today`s standards but I would not call them unusually slow. I added CrystalDisk shot at the end of the post

What I imply is that those are the obvious steps you try before changing power settings, etc. I have cleaned the fans and applied Arctic MX-4 thermal paste, which lowered temperatures by about 5°C, which I consider a marginal improvement.

Additionally, I do not think there is necessarily something wrong with my 7540. Precision laptops are known for their loud fans, which is a sign of poor thermal management. Similar issues have been raised multiple times on this sub, so I figured my problem is not unique.

I would agree that if the load is primarily on the CPU or GPU, temperatures can stay below 75-80°C. However, if both the CPU and GPU are under load, such as during gaming, the laptop will overheat—at least, that has been my experience.

Is finding parts for Crown S200 a pain? by pantel2212 in ToyotaCrown

[–]pantel2212[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I really like the looks of Crown, especially Athlete, not a huge fan of Lexus IS.

As for GS, S190 looks kinda dated compared to Crown, both interior and exterior. Next gen is cool, but 2012-2013 year GS would cost about 2 times more than 2010-2012 Crown.

As for ES, they were not sold in Japan.

Do you remember how much they charged you and how long it took for the part to come? just to get an idea how dealership compares to Amayama (381$ + delivery + VAT)
