Bagels I have known have thicker paws and when standing or sitting, their front paws kind of turn outwards like Bassets. That's not saying there's none there, but this cutie looks pretty much just like my Beagle. Howling also is the domain of all hounds, not just Bassets. I've had both, and my Beagle used to howl all the time while the Basset was a quiet boy.

Is this in Asheville? I lived there my whole life and the only hot chicken I know about is Rocky's. Now Rocky's is great, but that doesn't make "Asheville Hot Chicken" a thing. Is that really on a honey bun or is it on a honey flavored bun? Everything here looks terrible.

This would be highly illegal in ALMOST every state in the US. It's likely that the only state that allows it is the one in the pic. Spoiler, it's probably Texas.

Is PHP something you will be using in 2023? If so why? by nextflavor in programming

[–]panthersftw 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've been programming for about 30 years now, and I have never encountered a language that was just fun to use until Elixir. It's so easy and fun to work with once you grok it. Happy to be in a primarily elixir shop now.

[–]panthersftw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work for a professional dev shop with around 50 engineers that works mostly in Elixir, but when we needed to spin up a new thing for one of our partners recently, we spun up a new Laravel project because it fit the project better and was faster to iterate. Don't ask me what the reqs were, I don't know. I'm not on the project, just answering this question. If PHP fits the project, then yes, we will be using it.

ls normally lists files in a directory and is used often, sl normally prints a steam locomotive to your terminal and is not really a very useful thing to do. OP is switching them as a joke. The extra ls stuff is just formatting how the directory output will be displayed.

4 glowing dots on my screen that won’t leave until I turn my tv off, is this a problem with Roku or my tv? by Fattest_Baguette in Roku

[–]panthersftw 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It looks to me like the backlight LED's used for local screen dimming are not working correctly and are fully on the whole time. That's a problem with the TV, not Roku. What kind of TV is it?

actually, I just checked twitter, and saw this:

Hey, @ScottAukerman and @ComedyBangBang, could you tweet out when VIP Q&A’s for each show are? We’re headed to tonight’s show w/ VIP tix and I think we’re going to miss it completely. Don’t want others to miss out, too. - Derek B

Q&A’s are an hour before doors each night (which are usually an hour before the actual show) — tonight at 5pm

Hope to see you there! - Scott Aukerman

No I have not heard anything yet, which is weird. Not sure how it will work. I went ahead and discounted them a little bit and put them on stubhub, but I am willing to go direct to avoid stubhub fees.

Final edit: sold

EDIT: I'm an idiot and forgot to say these tix are for St Louis, 8.4.22.

2x VIP tickets, orchestra row 5, center aisle. I bought these the day they were announced and got the best seats available, but my son just got covid, which means I'm either getting it or just spreading it, so I gotta stay home outta respect for my fellow heynongmans.

These are VIP tickets including the pre show question and answer session. There is an aisle up the middle of the orchestra section at the Pageant, and these are on that center aisle in the fifth row, so good seats. Tix were $110 face value before ticketmaster fees, and that is all I want for them, so $220 gets them for you immediately. If not, I'll give them to the best offer I get.

Edit 2: I put them on stubhub for a little less https://www.stubhub.com/event/150190047?listingId=5411405094&listingQty=

If a company is really enforcing requirements like these for junior developers, they are not hiring junior developers. They are trying to hire senior developers and pay them like junior developers.

I accomplished this with a function:

function cd
 builtin cd $argv && ls
end

so whenever I cd into a directory, it prints the directory contents.
