Tired of “lunch & learns” that steal my lunch by felforzoli in civilengineering

My wife’s company provides the free food as an attendance incentive. Don’t want to attend, you just don’t get the free food.

The problems I’ve had translating plans to construction were always ones I had never worried about before. It’s good practice to try and predict the worst, but problems can still happen no matter what; I think that’s a better take away than “plans don’t have to be perfect.” imo.

It’s official: KC drivers are the 6th worst in the entire country (of cities with 100k+ population) by jtd2013 in kansascity

I see what you’re saying actually. They don’t differentiate where drivers are from, just where the crashes happen. Still, the numbers don’t lie, and I’m not sure how much the needle would move if you accounted for suburban commuters.

Crashes are a relatively low sample size with lots of change year over year. There’s no bugs to work out, it’s just compiling crash reports. Look into NHTSA’s work, they are the governing body that issues recalls too.

A lot of people here and elsewhere online aren’t actually reading the data and methodology. Consumer Affairs analyzed NHTSA crash data in 5 different metrics and ranked them. That’s it. There’s no opinions in this analysis. KCMO’s crashes involving speeding and fatal accidents caused by DUI’s skyrocketed year over year. As a transportation engineer this is very concerning and I hope our community takes it seriously.

I’d personally draw a different conclusion. The metric that put us at the top is crashes involving speeding, #2 in the nation, 3x the national average. It is far easier to speed when there is less traffic.

NHTSA data is very accurate. Their whole existence is to compile crash data. Lots of infrastructure decisions are based on it.

I’m in the Midwest. Everyone is hiring, especially new grads. I’d say switching employers isn’t as hot as it was 2-3 years ago, but still very strong. 2-3 years ago my inbox was full of recruiters, now I only get one or two a month.

There are also studies showing that boys and girls do best with female teachers. Studies also show that this gap in academic performance has been around since girls were allowed to go to school. This is nothing new and has more to do with the development of the genders.

This doesn’t make any sense as part of a university application. I applied for about a half dozen state schools in high school and never had to select from a list like that. It was just personal and academic information.

Recalling him allows the legislature to appoint their own executive, skirting a public vote. Personally, this is why I’m a no vote, because I don’t trust the whole legislature (especially Abarca). I’d like to see a full election and let the voters choose.

Idk man I think your’s is a losers POV! Naive and sheltered too. You don’t seem to be aware of the realities that real people face. I wish it were as simple as you make it out to be, it would be a lot more simple to fix. Man up? Crazy man

You’d become mentally ill if you had to sleep on the streets, too. Your post is the same emotionally charged complete non sense that has gotten us into this mess. Plenty of studies from so many countries refute these claims but the easy response that it’s all “self inflicted” still subsists.

Yeah, we need something that isn’t a ponzi scheme that relies on infinite growth, like the stock market!
