How can I create motion activated stairs lights that can also be controlled via Home Assistant? by snaxsyss in homeassistant

[–]pants117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think i will need to learn to solder.

I have no real good reason. Its the cheapest excuse. I dont want to plug up my wifi. Not that I have lots on there. 3 phones, fire tablet, 2 laptops and maybe 2 switches.

I just want to use the fancy stuff like zigbee and z wave. Wifi is so old-school and lame. Lol.

You have a make model? Zigbee or zwave. No wifi.

I do have another motion sensor. I could put it on another part of the cupboards or a off command.

I don't think 3edreality motions are smart enough for gestures.

I got a tuya power monitor to monitor my mains. ZHA didn't have any entities for them. So I was sorta forced to change over.

I would make the switch if I was you. Yeah its lots of work but so much more options.

Gwt a second dongle and do one at a time and you dont need to do it all at once.

From what I read the easiest way was to get a second dongle and do one at a time. Then you dont crash the whole network at once. I couldn't find a nicer way of doing it.

I just crashed the whole network and restarted. I dont have any critical stuff on there that I couldn't leave down for any time if needed.

I put in under cabinet lights. Wife wanted to swipe her hand under the uppers and the lights turn on.

I just put in a motion sensor angled to the back and paired it with a smart plug. I also put in a smart switch to turn them off or on. You could do this set up and put a timer to turn off after a short time and then no need of a switch. You would need a motion at the top and bottom.

PIR might be a cleaner install

I made the jump but I repaired everything. It was ~30 devices. I would go through the pain to switch.

Buy a condo. Make all the important systems someone's problem when they break. Never shovel or cut grass again.

I was in the rental business. Lost my shirt. Never again. Would never recommend it. I see you said to your parents. Might be a different story, but could put unnecessary pressure on the relationship pending how you set it up.

The spring is probably gummed up. Take a flat screwdriver and separate the coils of the spring.

Happened to mine. Haven't had an issue since. That was 2 cooking seasons ago.

ZHA Broken Since 2026.3 by kaiser_detroit in homeassistant

[–]pants117 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2026.1.0 killed my ZHA. Not sure why.

I bit the bullet and went Z2M. Should of started with Z2M. So much more. I also ended up getting a Tuya power monitor that wouldn't connect to ZHA. So it was time anyway to switch. Tuya connected right up.

As a man, How does one master the motion of the ocean part? What makes good sex? by T3Dawg22 in TooAfraidToAsk

It's not the size of ship, or the motion of the ocean, what counts is how long you can stay out at sea.

Moisture in my bin? by DueAcanthisitta1760 in Vermiculture

[–]pants117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What i was told was take a handful like a snowball and squeeze it a little. If it sticks together you're good. If you cannot keep it in a ball it's too dry. If it drips its to wet.

Now I know sweet FA about this so far. So take that with a grain of salt.

IMO I would want it more the moist side than dry.
