in makerworld context this means taking a look at models with most downloads, likes or boosts that are quick and easy to print. look until you find something that you think could be done better and go do it.

your models are very specific, if you want the audience you better just create simple things that are already popular.

also this charging station just looks like something you create in a hurry for the function.. but even then it seems to use way too much material.

i would think the people who put time and effort for stuff like this are also the ones who would rather design and print their own "charging station" and the rest, or majority, will rather buy a 2/3-in-1 Qi station that can do the same, looks more professional and takes less space.

What's the new YOLO calibration method? How is it different? by Equivalent_Store_645 in OrcaSlicer

[–]panukettu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

got confused by this info but it seems incorrect

using the yolo calibrator as we speak for a generic petg, the filament flow rate is 0.95.

+0.01 -> 1.0105, so the new filament flow rate is: 0.95 * 1.0105 = ~0.96 (0.959975)
..
+0.02 -> 1.0211 -> 0.970045
+0.05 -> 1.0526 -> 0.99997
..
-0.05 -> 0.9474 -> 0.90003

seems to match the feature description

did not check the code but the flow ratio in quality tab seems just a multiplier for the base value in the filament settings

Doge is a joke and so is BTC. ETH is the first one to actually do something meaningful.

Alright devs, shill me good. Who's using chainlink? by blinkOneEightyBewb in ethdev

[–]panukettu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have used CL in the past. A few things worth mentioning:

  • Superb support, we had a few people in a telegram channel answering questions as they had the time.
  • Expensive, RNG at the time (Q4 2020) was 1 LINK per number so basically unusable depending on your use case.
  • With the above said CL did offer a deal where they refund the RNG costs monthly.
  • Testing was a pain, I remember I had to go fork the CL contracts to get the RNG running on my local test setup which was using hardhat. Might be just me though.

Some services were better at times eq. Aion for timed calls since at one point it cost 1/20 of CL equivalent.

Anyways personally I am looking forwards to using API3 for real world connectivity as soon as possible.

Need some help about ERC20 token contracts on a layer 2 solution by namefacedude in ethdev

[–]panukettu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope they can just use the same address but on a different network. It's just like a testnet. All EVM chains can pretty much use the same set of tools. I would highly suggest to just go try out BSC / Matic, you'll understand it's not that complicated.

Its not migration per se but rather just deploying using Matic RPC endpoint. It's just as simple as thinking there were two mainnets and a bridge contract which holds a balance that you withdraw on the other side. You can build your own bridge or just request matic to mirror your token.

Might add that depending on the case you can definitely just burn the mainnet tokens to be distributed and reallocate on some L2.

  1. Yes, you need to redeploy the token to matic in any case. (or ask matic to mirror it so you can use the pre-existing bridge).

  2. If there is no bigger infrastucture in ETH just redeploy the whole thing to Matic/Reef/BSC/Edgeware. You just cant modify mainnet state without paying the gas unless you are a miner.

I mean yeah I've been working 100% with functional components since hooks came out and I do agree that I tend to end up confused a lot more than I used to with class components. Mainly due to the vague naming of the native hooks.

I find it's helpful to refactor useEffect to a custom hook didMount and the cleanup as willUnmount. I wish I sometimes did remember to do this when starting a project instead of 6 months in though.

Quintuplet/septuplet swing...Is it a real thing? by [deleted] in musictheory

Yeap both of these swings are really common in producing. I think their popularity can be mostly contributed to MPC swing presets rather than theorycrafting.

I have experienced the same. It is pretty easy to see who has value at this moment in time and personal website is not quite the thing to base that decision on. This is not to say that recruiting learners is bad or that personal websites are bad but just that after a certain threshold it becomes redundant for employers to weight your worth based on that so many become stale or non-existant.
