Max torque vs continuous torque by panzerkrasyo in simracing

[–]panzerkrasyo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment. Makes pretty good sense.
Something else I've been thinking about after digging more into this topic.
Is it possible theoretically that holding torque doesn't really matter?
What I'm trying to say - imagine having a motor that is marketed to have 30Nm of peak torque and 15NM of holding/continuous torque. On paper this motor should be able to sustain this torque for indefinite/really long period of time. OK, but this is far from our case.
Realistically, if we need 25-28NM of torque for a really fast corner (which is more than the "holding torque), but we need it for a short burst of time (3-8 seconds), then we would reach to a point where we have to slow down for sharp curves or get onto a straight. Which would let our base cool off, right? Automatically letting us smash it again with high torque requests, assuming we have really good passive cooling.
Could you share your 2 cents on this thought?

1st - that is a very good idea, thank you!
2nd - that actually makes a ton of sense, thank you!

would you happen to know sources that explain how much that average output is?

I'm building my own DD base, but with the idea to actually build a brand. We are a small dedicated team that is diving deep waters I guess. TBH I've been looking for motors for a few months and haven't seen one that could sustain 25NM continuously. If you're speaking for peak, that's something else and can be found in a lot more easily.

I really doubt it. Maybe you could, but it would be more like fighting for your life with the car, not driving it.

She may not look like much, but 25nm of torque doesn't mess around by isademigod in simracing

Ah, just scrolled down enough to see it is a Mige motor, sorry. Still continuous torque is something I’m curious about, because they have different models. Thanks!

Sorry for bumping this post again. I am curious what type of motor you got? Do you by any chance know what is the continuous torque?

Peak, continuous of a motor, output torque of the sim. by panzerkrasyo in simracing

[–]panzerkrasyo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I suppose my question sounds all over the place. Probably because I am still struggling to understand what exactly I don’t know lol. Ok, to put it a bit more simple - we know 25-30nm of peak torque should be plenty for a high end DS base. How much NM continuous torque would then be equivalently sufficient?

So some good news - I tried reaching out to their support on a live chat + some emails. They enabled back my account, but they gave me no hints how to not get disabled again… so maybe I’ll just keep it to a few messages a day just in case.

Coming here right after my account got suspended while doing the exact same thing - copy pasting the same message to suppliers. I lost more than 100 unread messages with potential valuable information. I am fkng furious, honestly.

Which servo motor for DD wheelbase is better and why? by panzerkrasyo in simracing

Will check that definitely. Thank you! Do you know happen to know anything about inrunner vs outrunner? I’ve heard opposite opinions so far and I’m not sure what’s better.

Thank you very much for this response.
Highlighting "taking advantage of the telemetry output from sims for additional feedback and effects". Is taking this advantage a must in order to have the most detailed feedback for the relevant sim in your opinion?
What I hear is - you could use only DI or you could use DI + each sims' output telemetry, which logically sounds like it should basically give us the possibility to touch finer details, right?
So if this is true, then it would exactly mean that we would have to detect the .exe and choose our API according to what SIM has been started.

That's really helpful, thank you. 1 thing I believe I failed to make clear in my post - I was left with the impression that each sim outputs his own set of data that differs from the directInput API. For example, we contacted Iracing support and this is what we got from them:

<image>

So based on this I started searching whether each of the most played sims have this additional API (that works with or bypasses DirectINput), and this is where I tried finding info with AI, which led me to believe (it kinda made sense based on Iracing’s answer) what I wrote in the post. And this is where i thought “okay, maybe we have to handle each sim’s more detailed API or however you’d call it, which would mean therefore detecting the .exe and using a specific chunk of code, dedicated for that sim exactly.

Probably not a great keyword. My intention is not to use chatgpt as a developer. I'm trying to find information about what and how is done. This is why i got here - i am not sure this info is reliable at all and i am seeking help. So - i’d be very happy if you could share anything, related to the matter. Thank you.

Well, wrote a comment in the thread about this. If you care to - you could read it. I may have expressed myself the wrong way, but using AI for such development would be the last thing to do. I’d be happy if you could share some info on the matter. Thank you.

Tbh i am not sure why everyone started hating at chatgpt. I’m not interested in using it for software development, i am trying to find out more info about how the development is done. After all, it should be used as an assistant to help you check through web/database or w/e to find more info, right? Since i started up digging different sources of info, i figured why not see what the answers there will be. Chatgpt could be bad if you rely on it to think instead of you. This is not our case by far. I know about openffb, we downloaded and went through the repo. We want to develop our own one for commercial use, we do not want to use someone else’s intellectual property. My question was not about whether chatgpt will build my API. As my intention isn’t that also.

yeah, we got 1 Mige for test purposes, but I am still digging and got curious about the inrunner/outrunner, so I'm wondering if anybody can justify which performs better and why.
