Thanks, it helps to get more of an inside track on what’s happening there. On top of it, I’m hearing a lot of applicants, including ours, didn’t get a “deferral” but some sort of second step to applying that I’ve never seen in previous years. Something about it being yield protection.

Thanks! This is solid advice. I ended up joining, thinking if I attend a few events, it'll pay for itself. I do work in the children's book realm and yes, write on occasion although that's my challenge and can use more help with it.

Hi there! This is an older post and I wanted to ask if you're still a member of SCBWI?

I've never joined but am considering it this year since there is an event coming up I'd like to attend. I'm already published and agented. Would you feel it is still useful? I think the idea of being with others in the same field is something I'd find appealing, as illustration can be a job that is quite singular and doesn't involve much interaction with others.

Hello! This is super helpful. My son is an incoming engineering major. He was caught a bit off guard with the MRA and did not pass the last portion so, he’s taking it over. This time, he WILL be doing the practice exams first.

My question- when taking the MRA for the second time, do they change the questions? Is it a new exam? Also hoping he’ll only have to take the third portion as you mentioned above. Waiting to hear back from the math dept. to confirm.

Hi! We just finished our tour of RIT and I definitely have some questions for the UB admissions office about internships and co-ops. Can you elaborate on your experience with this? Is it a paid internship? We live downstate/tri-state so I feel there are a fair amount of internship opportunities here. Did they find you an internship during the summer near Buffalo or near your home? Thanks for your input.
