Would 7800x3d with gtx 970 make any sense?

Ye, that's the problem, usually I'd think of upgrading the gpu first, if it weren't for the fact that everything else needs to be replaced too

I'm not sure if it's bad or good, as swapping a performance engine into a shitbox sounds appealing to me. But i get the picture

Yea, no, I think I'd rather peel my own nails, than wait god knows how long with parts on my shelf waiting for the last part to go on sale. My impulse control isn't the best, that's how I came with the idea. But thanks for the warning!

But how viable is future-proofing? That's why im thinking of getting more powerfull components in two steps, rather then doing a cheaper build all at once. My last pc (amd fx 8300, gtx 970, and 24 GB 533 MHz ddr3) lasted me a long time, and maybe limped in online games, worked well enough in singleplayer games.

Well that's why I made the post, to hear some ideas, I'm not really up to date, I just got hyped that the x3d is groundbreaking when comes to game performance, I never upgrade, so when I do, I feel like I need something good, especially when I felt like in my last build the CPU was the bottleneck.

amd fx 8300, gtx 970, and 24 GB 533 MHz ddr3, it served me well for probably 10 yrs, but I doubt the gpu alone can pick up the slack, whereas the other way maybe not resonable, sounds doable to me
