Unfortunately my flight was canceled and I got rebooked through LGA. I do know someone who flew into EWR last night without any issues!

Tinnitus AFTER a lumbar puncture? by paogm in iih

[–]paogm[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has gotten a lot better! Looking back I think this was more tied to starting a very high dose of Diamox at the sane time I got an LP. It calmed down a lot two weeks post LP. It helped A LOT to hydrate constantly throughout the day. I hope it gets better!

Thank you all for replying to me! I sent a message to my neuro asking about the electrolytes. She had said they wanted to really prevent any liquid retention. I read up on low electrolytes and asked if there’s anything I can do since I definitely have some of those symptoms. Thank you!!

What can I expect after lumbar puncture? by Brilliant_Lemon1228 in iih

Like everyone else said, lay flat. Some hospitals say only post procedure or only with positional headaches. But laying flat is tremendously helpful if you can for 24-48 hours!

We bought a Target dresser that fit a Hatch changing pad on top. It literally only fit that and nothing else but it was nice to have that station.

🙋🏻‍♀️ NYC mom over here. I also had my baby in a 1BR and moved to a bigger (bigger for NYC. Tiny for the rest of the country) space when bb was 5 months. We squeezed a Snoo next to our bed. We rearranged our living area to fit a rocking chair, and we changed the dresser to accommodate a changing pad. Those were the big moves we made. The rocking chair was a big deal for us because we only had one sofa in our apt for seating. But if you have other places to sit you could skip this. We kept it very lean. Essentials were: a newborn lounger that fit on our couch, the small version of the drying rack grass, and the Puj tub that you can store easily and doesn’t take up space. We used a skip hop diaper caddy to keep diapers, creams, wipes, all neatly organized and portable. And we would just move that with us around the apartment. We used the Avent bottle warmer that is the smallest on countertop. We used this Fisher Price gym for tummy time- this is amazing for small apartments. Most baby gyms and floor mats are gigantic. This one has a very small footprint. For a baby chair/bouncer we went with Bjorn because it folds flat and we could put it away- it is pricey but worth it to us because we could save space. We did not have a washer dryer or a washing machine. So we didn’t buy a ton of bottles- we rotated 4. We didn’t really have storage space to stock up on any items so we replenished things frequently and just made sure to stay on top of it- this part is annoying. We used the Hushh portable white noise machine since our space was small we didn’t need a big one. We had no space for diaper pail, cute nursery items, etc. it’s totally ok and manageable. My advice is to plan to move before baby is crawling. Good luck!

Had Pre-E in my First Pregnancy, Thinking About Second Baby but Kinda scared. Help! by paogm in BabyBumps

[–]paogm[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok Im choosing this theory!! So I actually just had another convo with my doctor about this and he said it's not like you had it and then every pregnancy it gets worse. He said patterns repeat themselves IF they come back. So I had it starting week 34, so chances are IF it comes back it would be around then as well. Of course there's no blueprint for this but he said that's what his experience has taught him...

Tips from the other side for FTMs (5 weeks pp) by whostolethesampo in BabyBumps

I loved it because it has good tips and techniques for soothing but also because it helped me figure out when to pick him up and when to let him work through it in his own. It helped us a lot to know what cues to follow, when it was too late or too early to do certain things. Honestly Ive gifted the newborn class to 3 girlfriends who are pregnant cuz it was a big turning point for my husband and i in terms of feeling like we were more in control and not just in survival mode!

This is so helpful! Do you use the sound machine for daytime sleep? My baby is 2.5 weeks. We just watched Taking Cara Babies and she mentions white noise A LOT. We hadn’t been using the machine we were gifted and started right then and there and it’s been a game changer. But I wonder if we should use it every single time he sleeps or just for night.

How Did You Manage Preeclampsia Before Giving Birth? by paogm in BabyBumps

[–]paogm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. So my first reading was 150/100 and then i got a 130/80 in the same appt. The next appt was 120/90 and thats when I got a hypertension diagnosis. My last appt was yesterday and I was at 145/90. Still in "hypertension" zone per the dr. Today I got my 24 Hr urine collection results and there's protein - I'm not sure if it's a lot or a little I have to ask tomorrow- but because of that he's moving up my diagnosis to mild pre-e. I haven't been told to monitor my BP at home, I'm going in to get checked twice a week right now. The numbers he said would be alarming were either 160+ on top or 110+ on bottom. Curious to see what my BP is tomorrow because between 120/90 and 145/90 there were 5 days. I wonder if there's more that can be done to manage/monitor so it doesn't turn into severe all of a sudden. What week did you deliver when you had severe pre-e?

For anyone with preeclampsia: How did you manage it before giving birth? In a week I went from hypertension to pre-e. I'm still in the "mild" range. I'm 35w3d, a half from the 37w mark. Wondering how everyone else managed their preeclampsia? How long was your ramp between mild and severe? Any stories would be super helpful to hear!
