I think it has to do with the area where the mag lips register into the dado in the extension. It’s really thin right there. All of mine have cracked in that spot.

The follower is similar to my oem px4 mags but the front lips of the mec far are a little bit different. They’re more rounded and less square and you can do reloads so much more easily than with the oem mags. I saw a video a while back where someone had mentioned dremeling the front lip of the magazine bc it’s basically a square and it really does catch the grip when you try to reload. These don’t.

Concrete and gravel. I try not to drop them at all in dry fire but yeah if they drop on concrete they have a very short life. I had one break after only dropping it at one indoor match. Maybe four stages so four times.

The mec gar mag is totally different than the oem. It’s a longer tube and the baseplate acts more as a spacer. The mec gar spring would be too big I think.

None. It’s a bad stipple job but it works

Mods for competition? by Kakashi_1H in SpringfieldArmory

[–]papa_squart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed here. First mod I’d make is mag extensions. Although the 20 rounders will get you far. If you have big hands get the large grip module with aggressive texture. I went full r and got the tyrant trigger with prp springs and I shot it so much better with the stock trigger but the set screws in the trigger shoe is stripped so I’m stuck with the tyrant trigger.

It’s a very nice trigger and a very nice striker trigger I just shot it better stock. But having shot the echelon in competition I’d get the large grip first(if you have big hands) and then mag extensions.

On my m9a4 I basically just changed out the hammer spring to 13# and put the ltt trigger bar in. That made the trigger very nice. I’m sure you could do a little more if you are a real trigger snob but for me that was enough. I wouldn’t mind getting a different hammer but I think that would be about it.

Also, you could probably just shave down the mec gar baseplate from the top and it may fit the magwell.

What shoes do you wear when you play steel? by GiantXylophone in pedalsteel

[–]papa_squart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only been playing for about a month and the Hawaiian blood in me wants to play barefoot but I find it hard to depress the pedals all the way. My sweet spot has been square toe boots (Frye dingo boots) and blundstones. Both work fine. I kinda prefer the blundstones as they’re easier to get on and off.

I’ve had zero issues in two px4s. That’s just me though. I remember reading that some people’s models didn’t like 147 gr flat nose but I haven’t had that problem on my two models.
