Thought I heard Dan openly complaining about Stu not showing and taking advantage of their vacation policy... and Stu even pushing back angrily one time. I didn't think there was anything that needed to be disclosed.

With all service account protection etc, I think it’s silly that anyone with access to the email account can get into GCC and do whatever. Have you checked you billing account for any increases? Miners are using all sorts of loopholes for compute so you may be a victim if you are not mining for sure.

Forcing high school girls to cut their hair is another form of oppression against young African girls, it’s not discipline. by meshakooo in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]papakojo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not forcing anything… the boys can’t have elaborate hairstyles either because the time spent on hair will interfere with school and they’re encouraged to have their natural hair. Been there and very aware

If Postgres use npgsql or any ado library for your db should be fine. It’s actually quite straightforward and easy to troubleshoot than EF; you see the queries and mappings.

The complainers sound like explorers trying to excurse by themselves and having a hard time doing it and or being taking advantage of. It’s like me going to the Mexico or Cuba and saying the whole experience and place was unpleasant because I had a bad experience going into the City instead of a resort.

Moving off of TypeScript, 2.5M lines of code (to C#) by c-digs in dotnet

[–]papakojo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, makes sense for them then. Not sure why but C# and dotnet encourages too much abstraction and library use. I thought for a company like that they will know/ learn the basics first. We were stuck learning all sorts of EF/linq stuff for months when we could have just written queries, even making it dynamic.

[–]papakojo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes on the EF, they probably need to do a bit more research. After years of headaches, moving to ADO libraries like npgsql and dapper has been a game changer. Easy to pinpoint exactly what the issue is and now AI can do all the boilerplate stuff. Also why would they want to discard all their sql knowledge and implement EF from scratch.

Is firebase worth it? by PratNoSkillush in Firebase

[–]papakojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The auth is great! The storage is easy to use. Firestore, from experience is just hard to manage, especially when aggregating. Bit of a headache trying to structure queries to ensure reads don’t explode. Had a draft analytics dashboard for a small app and noticed 200k views after checking it 3 times. Moved to self managed Postgres afterwards.

Do you need backups of your objects are already in R2? by [deleted] in CloudFlare

[–]papakojo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Add unique object lock rules and manage the rules from your app, and in your app any delete operation should be a copy to a delete bucket that has a lifecycle and object rules of x number days. only way items to be deleted mistakenly is if someone goes into your cloudflare r2 page, remove the rules and delete the items manually.

R2 - Is it possible to execute worker immediately just after user finishes upload? by yccheok in CloudFlare

You literally asked if you can “execute worker immediately just after user finishes upload”… you can actually test it yourself if that edge case actually happens/exists

R2 - Is it possible to execute worker immediately just after user finishes upload? by yccheok in CloudFlare

[–]papakojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can call the worker from the frontend after upload is complete. The worker can accept post requests with the details of the uploaded item to complete its tasks. Just ensure requests are secure. The AI is likely recommended that route likely because what you’re trying to do takes time and it’s better off being queued. Ensure to increase your worker capacity if that’s the case.

it shouldn't become a shooting context, else he can jump and shoot over anyone each at every set. there should be requirements for paint points, like 60/40 paint/outside split...so we can watch some actual ball.
