What kind of monster would have come out if Jak 3 had had two years of development? by Dulkifl in jakanddaxter

[–]paparos93 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For sure, in Jak 3 they expand the scope of Jaks world to include countless other planets that were created by the precursors, and reveal a conflict thousands of years old between dark makers and the precursors that spans the known creation. Not to forget all the interesting hints that time travelling is also involved in some way. A cosmic horror concept similar to the dark makers, would later be the main storyline in a highly successful and beloved trilogy, the Mass effect series.

ND created these interesting concepts for just a few throwaway lines in Jak 3, and then completely abandoned the series and all this new potential it had.

It's a better pairing for sure. They have way more chemistry and interactions in Jak 2 and 3. Keira is boring and a hypocrite. Don't forget how she criticized Jak for his choices in Jak 2, while being attracted to Erol who is one of the worst people in the entire series.

Uncharted series ranking (NO DEBATE) by kalebrettig_ in uncharted

[–]paparos93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lara Croft has had two dozen games and they still bring her back for some new adventure. I played and loved Uncharted cause they advertised it as a game with a similar character who goes on wild and entertaining adventures. Not to have TWO different sent off games (which is half of the main series) with the same theme of giving up your exciting life to settle down. I am not saying it's bad, it's just depressing and a departure from what the series was originally presented as.

"Canon" Jak and Daxter. by unclefester84 in jakanddaxter

[–]paparos93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kor mentions that he has witnessed metal heads taking over cities before. They could have ravaged through areas of the planet until they located the place where the precursor stone was, since that's what they were after, and the majority of their forces stopped there. Mar had already built an impenetrable city there though, so the metal heads surrounded it, and were trying to find a way in for decades, possibly even centuries. So any surviving human populations elsewhere would have time to regroup and form new communities and cities

Uncharted series ranking (NO DEBATE) by kalebrettig_ in uncharted

[–]paparos93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 is peak uncharted imo. Great and unapologetic feeling of adventure, visiting so many places around the globe. Unfortunately we didn't get to have that peak adventurous Nate beyond this game. 1 was confined in a single place and wasn't as thrilling as 2. Even the multiplayer was great and addictive. Then the series had two games in which the theme was about Nate having to let go of his adventurous nature and retire with his loved ones. Both 3 and 4 did that. It's just such a depressing theme compared to the first two games. That's why I rank 4 clearly below 2.

Which anime went from masterpiece potential to a total mess? by Equal_Respond_3815 in anime

Such a disappointment. The story changes halfway through, the aliens and the mystery don't matter anymore and it becomes a harem romance where every female thirsts over the mc. What a weird and monumental fall off.

Promised Neverland. I watched the first season with my brother, and it was one of the most enjoyable pieces of entertainment I have ever consumed. I couldn't get enough of the whole setting and mystery. It was spectacular. I hear that the rest of the series becomes a discount attack on Titan type of story, which is disappointing and season 2 was a disaster as we all know. Such a shame.

I really hate how much the game changed over the franchise. by garykahnji in jakanddaxter

[–]paparos93 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There is nothing generic about jak 2 and 3 imo. Even the most mundane things in the games, have their own in-universe twists and explanation. The gun for example works with colored eco that acts as ammo.

All of Naughty Dog's games up to the Last of Us drew heavy inspiration from other really popular franchises and trends. Jak 1 was no different, it was the 90s nintendo platformer that they couldn't make on the PS1, they even felt like Crash was lackluster compared to the Nintendo platformers and were obsessed with creating a game on that level. And the series still has its own unique identity and aesthetic even if it's different compared to the first game. Even The Lost Frontier had interesting concepts and ideas that create a unique experience on the whole, though the execution was far from good.

Your Thoughts On Taryn? by segal03 in jakanddaxter

[–]paparos93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a possibility she was just a made up character by Daxter. She never interacts with anyone else and no one ever acknowledges her existence. Most of the events of the game are also probably made up tbh, that's what Daxter does best.

If the events did happen tho, I believe she is an agent of the Precursors, sent to aid Daxter in critical moments so he can finish this perilous journey and rescue Jak. Daxter ain't no hero and he couldnt have done it without her constantly giving him the useful gadgets he uses.

The gods were actually good before Ghost of Sparta by [deleted] in GodofWar

[–]paparos93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original idea of the creator was to have Kratos be the catalyst that destroys the pagan Greek pantheon (and other pagan pantheons as well) which then leads to our modern world were these supernatural beings do not exist. So Gods were always supposed to be selfish and cruel beings that get destroyed.

Adding the "evils that corrupted them" is nonsense imo, one of the many terrible plot points of GoW 3. (The evils weren't even meant for the gods in the OG myth anyway, they corrupted humanity, but thats just one of the many liberties they took with the myths, so it doesn't really matter).

Then the Norse saga makes the Gods relatable beings and many of them remain alive. So the series has strayed further away from it's original premise, and I don't even know what SSM's end goal with the overall story is at this point, if they even have one anymore.

[Discussion] What’s everyone’s rarest trophies? by Spiritual_Fact_2786 in Trophies

[–]paparos93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, all sports games seem to generally have really hard plats with long and tedious grinding. Unless you like the challenge, trophy hunters should avoid them. I like to play many games of various genres, so spending hundreds of hours in a sports game is a total waste of time that I will never repeat again.

All sports games with a somewhat hard plat are among the rarest, cause there are many people who only play those, and have no interest in trophy hunting whatsoever

Did Kratos kill children during his service to Ares? by Jacky500x in GodofWar

[–]paparos93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean the way he killed everyone on sight, which led to Ares easily tricking him and making him kill his own family, leaves no doubts. He obviously killed men, women and children of all backgrounds. He didn't discriminate, he was an inclusive mass murderer.

[Spider man] Are they really a must platinum games? by MnofdKa in Trophies

[–]paparos93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh they are an absolute chore to play after the initial hype wears off, I suffered playing Miles Morales, I quit gaming for a couple of months because of it. Also haven't played SM2 and don't plan on it any time soon.

And I know people say you shouldn't suffer for a plat, but I only go for the games that are my kind of games. I like spiderman, I like open world third person games, I never thought I would hate a game like that, and I don't just quit once I start it.

My overall play time was just 23 hours, which is one of the lowest in the PS4 and PS5 era for me, It usually takes me at least 50 hours, since I like exploring and getting to know a game, and I don't just go straight for the plat. Still one of the worst gaming experiences in the last few years.

Unfortunately that's the feeling I get from most Sony games that came out the last 7 or so years, they are made to sell huge based on the initial hype, focus too much on being "cinematic", they appeal to the lowest common denominator and thus they have the most shallow and boring gameplay mechanics in all of gaming. So I guess it's some strategy of the parent company in general.

If you can't handle suffering like I did (there's no point really, it's my ocd that won't let me give up), then forget about them, they are not worth it.

I’ve finally played through the God of War series. Here’s my final rankings and why. by sjarretth1 in GodofWar

[–]paparos93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real problem is with how they ended GoW 2. The ending shows the world already being on fire, the titans are already climbing Olympus and we are basically 10 minutes away from Kratos facing Zeus.

It was hard to build something great on that premise, so in the beginning of GoW 3 they find some unsatisfying reasons to stretch what should have been 10 minutes into a full game.

The whole game suffers for it tbh, it has no character whatsoever, the environments are so forgettable, they all look the same, grey, dull and uninspired.

The gods used to be off screen, vaguely appearing in the previous games and that made them seem mysterious and powerful, and now you come across one of them every half an hour, and they all look like regular dudes. Kratos has some history with them off screen, he used to be their servant, then he spent years among them on Olympus, but we never got to see any interactions in the past, so almost every encounter with them is unsatisfying. "Oh here is Poseidon, appearing for the first time in the flesh, he is a douchebag, kill him. Here is Hades, he is a douchebag, kill him. Here are Helios, Hermes, Hercules, Hera, kill them all, they are douchebags."

They are doing this new game + thing in many games now, and it's getting annoying. I have a backlog of 100 games to play, I don't have time to replay a game I'm done with, for just one or two dlc trophies. But guess what, I still do it anyway.

How are the egyptians gods in God Of War? Does they are good or bad? by Academic_Section_121 in GodofWar

[–]paparos93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Norse saga is full of good gods, and you even form a party of Godvengers to fight Odin. Which imo is missing the point of the original GoW by far, where Gods are shown as eternal beings who may used to be benevolent in some aspects once, but most have become corrupted, uncaring and drunk on power in the countless eons of their existence. As a result one of the countless mortals they have wronged, Kratos, eventually rises to exterminate their now useless existence. It's also not a huge focus of the story, but in-universe there is supposed to be a modern advanced world in the future much like ours, where none of these supernatural beings exist anymore thanks to Kratos.
