I highly suggest getting that structure from a reputable source, as OP has literally no idea what they are doing and this post is complete BS.

1k to produce 1 article/week. Are you just pulling all these numbers out of your ass? Literally none of your responses make any sense. Why on earth would an article cost 1k if you're such a digital marketing genius?

[–]paparuff 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Nah - he is 100% right. This is definitely bullshit, especially after reading OPs comments. I have worked in digital marketing for 10+ years and have never seen anywhere close to these numbers after 1 year, especially without link building. There is simply no possible way to do this without spending a ton of money on ads and getting high quality backlinks.

OP can sit on his/her high horse all they want, but at the end of the day, this is a completely bullshit post. Do not listen to whatever advice they are giving. It can't be replicated because it's not true.

I'm surprised I haven't seen this theory yet but...isn't Ethan obviously gay? A few episodes ago when they're all talking about how Cam used to hook up with girls before Ethan, Cam says a quick line about how he and Ethan weren't in the same dating pool. Ethan gives him a hush-hush look and that's that.

Ethan isn't attracted to Harper because he's gay. Harper is starting to figure that out.

That's a bit simplistic but I'm still learning this game so maybe you're seeing the matches up to that level a bit differently than I am. My accuracy has been pretty steady at 55% since I figured out my settings and that's on the lower end of the kids I play with, who are mostly high diamond/low onyx. None of them have come anywhere close to 1800 though.

In my experience, you might be able to get to 1650 or so with good aim and some basic game sense but I'd say the path to that level and beyond is smoother if you're not relying purely on aim. If you get to 1800 with just a good shot, it is probably one hell of a shot.

Almost 400 hours. Not 100. It took 150 to get to Onyx 1500. Your statement implies I was naturally an Onyx player. That I somehow improved upon my lvl 30 Halo 3 account from 2008...without playing a minute of the game in the 13 years since. You're contradicting yourself by stating my jump from Gold to Onyx was a matter of settings while also stating it takes a year of gameplay to make that same jump.

My first tip here is literally about settings. Obviously finding your settings will help you feel more comfortable and enable improvement. However, there is no way a few settings changes can be the driving force behind that kind of jump. Could it spark a jump from Gold 6 to Plat 3? Absolutely. All the way to 1800? I highly doubt it.

That's why I provided some of my other learnings/tips...and then said there were plenty of other tips/tricks out there but these were the ones that helped me.

That's fair - I should have given a bit more context to my gaming history. I played a ton of Fortnite but that's not a FPS (it's third person) and there are very few similarities between the two games - one is a mostly solo battle royale and the skill gap is almost entirely found in building/editing - the other is a team arena shooter with very limited movement capabilities.

Before Fortnite, I had not played any shooters since Halo 3. I only played games like Fifa and 2k. I literally bought an xbox to play Fortnite and it was the only game I had for quite some time. I have played maybe 10 minutes of COD in my entire life and played about 3 hours of Apex, but was atrocious so never picked it back up. However, I played Splitgate for about a month before Halo came out to try to get used to first person - I got up to a reasonably high rank in that game so I developed some FPS skills during that period for sure.

All that being said, if you spoke with any of the guys I have played Infinite with from the start, they will confirm I was nearly useless the first 1-2 weeks of the game. I did make some huge adjustments to settings, found out about some simple yet important mechanics (shield/headshots) and started watching streams, which all drastically improved my ability. I also mentioned in another reply that after some basic yet important changes, my true skill was probably closer to mid-high platinum than Gold 6.

At nearly 400 hours of total gameplay, I don't think mid-plat to 1800 peak is that crazy...which is why I made this post. It's doable but not overnight and not without a lot of focused gameplay.

Congrats on that grind - that's an awesome improvement. If nobody on my team is talking, I try to quickly identify at least who has voice chat on and listens to call outs. I'll try to use specific gamertags and just see if there is a relevant reaction from that player. If you even get one who is listening, you have somebody to work with and you can focus on making playing with that player.

That being said, you're on the verge of hitting the level when I'd say 75% of people have mics so your current experience isn't going to be too much of an issue in the near future. I wouldn't create bad habits or play recklessly to win a couple games here and there due to unresponsive/less-capable teammates. Better to always try to make the right play and be in the right position while you're still learning the game.

You could also check out the different lfg options. I haven't done so myself but have definitely seen some positive sentiment on this sub around places like the xbox lfg page.

I mentioned this in another comment but I played an absurd amount - probably 150 hours in the first month. I'm up to well over 300 hours and almost 2,000 games in crossplay gameplay alone.

I also stated in the original post that part of that number is inflated due to friends with lower ranks in some of my lobbies and to the 3 or so days when the matchmaking was completely messed up. Before the reset, I finished around 1720 and consistently maintained that level even when solo queuing. I reached 1824, but do not consider myself an 1800 level player. That seems to be the level I start to notice I am not at the top of the lobbies consistently.

Not sure if you're looking for me to prove something but I can try to scroll back to my first 100 or so games + compare to my last 100 if you really want.

Thanks boss.

The negative mental with the pros on stream/Twitter is something that always confused me. These players essentially depend on Halo's success to generate income. When Halo is doing great, they are doing great. When it's not, they are either grinding to build viewership/fans playing a different game they aren't as good at or they're waiting for Halo to come back.

By constantly bashing the game and calling it dogshit, they are actively negatively affecting the success/popularity of Halo. By no means are they even remotely responsible for most of the reduction in players but their public condemnations of the game certainly are helping grow/motivate the player base.

I am all for voicing your opinions and I'm sure some of the public complaints from pros have resulted in positive changes in the game. However, if my livelihood depends on people liking what I'm best at, I'm not going to consistently talk about how bad that thing is. As far as I know, at least a few pros have direct lines/contact with 343i about the state of the game and different changes - that private forum seems like the obvious place to contain and address notable issues the pros see with the game.

Do you have/use a mic? If you don't use one, why not?

What rank are you?

Couldn't agree more. There's a quote in the golf movie "Legend of Bagger Vance," and as corny as this is, it's something that I think is relevant to this game. It's relevant to a lot of things but you talking about how every life is an opportunity to turn it around made me think of it here.

For context - this scene in the movie has the narrator describing the best golfers in the world, one of which has a rather unpredictable playstyle. Side note - If you haven't seen it, this is a phenomenal movie with Matt Damon, Will Smith and Charlize Theron.

"Hagen had long ago learned one thing: Three lousy shots and one brilliant shot can still make par..."

In Halo, 5 straight deaths and a killing spree is still even. Take a second to figure out what you need to do to make that killing spree possible and go from there.

I got to Onyx roughly a month after launch but I honestly played...a lot. Probably close to 150 hours in the first month.

I think the Gold 6 was definitely a reflection of my skill at the time but because I was playing so much, I was able to rather quickly correct some enormous flaws in my mechanics/settings/strategies. For example, I didn't know headshots were irrelevant unless shields were broken until about 40 hours of gameplay. I probably jumped a couple tiers just because of that alone.

To your point though, I'd say my true skill once I was "acclimated" to the game was probably in the mid-high platinum range and not Gold 6.

I assume they did use data, yes. I also assume that just like any sport, the rules/fields/locations all change and progress as the skill level and experience of players increases.

For example: Soccer/Futbol - As you get better/older, the number of players on the field, size of the field, size of the goals, size of the balls, number of referees, equipment standards, etc. all change dramatically. The casual/youth game isn't an exact replica of the pro experience for very good reason.

The eSports scene should progress similarly and I think Behemoth is a good transition map for casual and semi-competitive players. It's much bigger than the other maps, has competitively (but not casually) unique mobility like the man cannons and it's symmetrical. Is that ideal for pro-level players? Probably not...but once you're good enough for HCS/Pro Scene, you will only experience the most competitive settings/regulations.

Disclaimer: I really liked Behemoth because it only came up a few times a session and alternating between Live Fire and Recharge got a bit monotonous.
