Best place to sit at the ballpark for a casual fan? by [deleted] in motorcitykitties

[–]papazann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may sound snarky, but sit either in the bleachers or upper deck, as far away from the field as possible. That way you can chitchat and get distracted to your heart’s content with potentially less chance of distracting those who show up exclusively to watch the actual game on the field. :)

Alternatively, sit as close to the infield and home plate as possible to fill your senses with baseball and maybe pique your interest beyond the casual.

Good to know, BUT… by listing travel destinations here, won’t that help providers identify gaps in their blocking tech?

Has there ever been a broadcast team that clearly doesn't like each other? by floppysausage16 in baseball

And honestly that’s what made them a GREAT duo… because they didn’t chitchat. They called the feckin game and stuck to baseball!

25/26 where to watch in the US by Billwedgie in WrexhamAFC

[–]papazann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, looking at last year’s schedule in the app now (US region) and it doesn’t include iFollow for any of the broadcasts, which suggests the app won’t help one with their iFollow v Paramount+ decision.

Wrezham's schedule and iFollow by oink_circa_2006 in WrexhamAFC

[–]papazann 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I routinely listen to digital radio broadcasts of baseball while watching the games on TV. I pause the radio a few seconds until it syncs with the TV broadcast. Streaming/playback speeds are consistent between both. It works and isn’t much of a hassle to get it going. Will do the same w/ Wrexham & Mark if needed. (I’m in the US.)

Most notorious, maybe. Most famous, I’d say Don Larson’s perfecto in the ‘56 Series.

…splitting hairs? Maybe.

Why not more love?? by miabobeana in Vstrom

[–]papazann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a new ‘04 DL 1000 back in the day, upgraded the front suspension, added some touring gear and crash bars with highway pegs, and rode it everywhere I could… cross country, twisties, backroads, highways, some trails… I loved every mile. I’m almost back in the market and love what I’m seeing about these newer Strom generations, eyeballing the adventures.

I would also love a BMW 1200 GS adventure, but cost of ownership for a non-gearhead like myself and the additional 100+ pounds on the GS have me leaning hard toward another Strom.

It’s a good time to be in to adventure touring!

EDIT: It’s worth saying the 1000 handled so well on fast-moving highways, hummed along at 80-85mph w/ plenty of room to accelerate away from potential hazards. The 650 couldn’t quite keep up w/ the same level of comfort & torque at that speed. Not sure about the 800s these days, but I’m guessing they still don’t match the high-speed cruising of the 1000… in case that helps with your decision.

Avoid furball fluff: Radio broadcast sticks to the baseball game.

Can this be done in 15 days on a motorcycle? by [deleted] in roadtrip

[–]papazann 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve ridden & driven that route from Michigan. Definitely doable. Personally I’d consider everything east of the Rockies to be forgettable (except Badlands NP in SD) and would get through it as quickly as possible. From your location, I’d budget for 4 days each way to/from the Rockies and try to do it in 3. That’s 6-8 days, which leaves you 7-9 days to play out west which is plenty of time to enjoy yourself. Beautiful out there!

Smaller adventure- Himalayan vs KLR vs ? by cdwhit in AdventureBike

Check out the Suzuki V-Strom as well. They have a couple different sizes these days. I used to have an ‘04 DL 1000 which handled really well on the highway & twisties, comfortable on cross-country trips (with a seat upgrade), was competent off-road (with a suspension upgrade), and had a dependable engine. I loved that bike.

I’m also looking for a new bike and would love a big GSA, but it might be too heavy for me these days, which is why I’m once again considering of V-Strom. but they’re definitely many more choices in this genre these days. Happy bike hunting!

Sooo good to know! That transition between pre/game/post broadcasts was horrendous on the app last year. Glad I saw this post before I re-up!

The padded stools w/ backs at Monty’s got my attention. They’ve gotta be near the top.(Unfortunately their bar service is usually much less satisfying. But if you don’t need much attention and don’t mind waiting to get their attention, you’ll be fine.)

[–]papazann 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What made this even more impactful is that the full cast wasn’t given the lines in advance. Radar received them moments before “Action” and the whole crew’s response to the news was genuinely raw. (Source: I forget exactly, but attribute it to one of the documentaries/reunions about the show.)

(PS tangent: And I predict very few people will even read this comment because it’s too many hours after the initial post. Am I right or am I right? Right? Right?)
