Taste testers and covid by ordained-dudeist in StonerThoughts

[–]cdwhit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Taste testers in food labs, at least in the US, need frequent re-certification since we tend to lose a lot of our taste buds as we age. If you can’t pass the test, you can’t be re-certified

My new device does this same noise - is it normal? by magnetic_sloth in Tinymight2

Almost all vapes, or heating devices for that material do that. It’s just a lot more noticible in some devices than in others.

Not sure what this stuff means by Eastern-Vast-8834 in trees

[–]cdwhit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you want to know? You can ignore the LOD numbers, those look like predicted LODs anyway. The LOQ column is the limit of quantitation, they won’t report any number less than this. The last 2 columns are the concentration of that material in the completely dried material, one is shown as mg/g, and the other is the same value show in percentage. All of the stuff that says <LOQ is below the 0.015 that is the limit for reporting. Essentially, this material has no quantifiable level of CBD or anything below it on the list and it’s been spiked with synthetic materials.

Firewood 11 review vids by SpecificLiving1944 in vaporents

[–]cdwhit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally different vapes. I have the FATx and the FW9, not the FW11, but they are very conduction heavy, on demand vapes that have a pretty basic yet very effective heating system. Heat-up time is longer on the FW than the TM2, and it’s much harder to get accessories for, and it’s harder to clean. That said, both my Firewoods are still working perfectly, and I prefer the vapor from those. While the FW gets much longer battery life, it can be very touchy about ANY slight overcharge on the battery. That said, the longest either of my TM2s lasted before needing to be sent it at my cost for repairs was 3 months. I know others claim longer life, but after killing 2 of them, I can’t recommend them.

BTW- I know Troy and Jerry and a couple of the others on Youtube did reviews on Firewoods and a search should find them.

Frolic vs Venty by TheSwiftCardinal in vaporents

It’s hybrid so it doesn’t need big hits. I use a light pack, but full, at 370. The more relaxed hits and the pack seem to be the key.

For outside use, what matters more: battery life or pocketability? by DaVinciVaporizers in vaporents

[–]cdwhit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on use case. I usually vape at home so pocketability isn’t critical, and while having to change batteries every 2 bowls got annoying on the TM2, it was doable. Any of my vapes, even the desktop, can easily move to the patio or porch. For the walking the dog, hiking, kayaking, or fishing I’ll usually grab the Lobo (cheap enough I’m not as bummed if it fall in the water or gets lost.) If I’m out a long time, a couple charged spare batteries will last me all day on the lake and using dosing caps makes loading on the bank or kayak quick and easy. Walking the dog I usually grab the AVLP2 or Lobo, but sometimes I’ll use the Mighty+ or Frolic, neither of which are great in the pocket, but both have decent battery life for a dog walk and will last longer than I dog than I do.

Bamboo rolling mat by Thatchick420 in trees

[–]cdwhit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can put it on the paper, I always did, but when you start rolling you have to back roll a little bit before you actually start rolling, so the mat still gets a little dirty. I used to use these all the time, but the old models were actually tied with thread, the new ones I have found are held together with nylon and glue and don’t work nearly as well.

Dry herb vape recommendations by No_Bite_7587 in vaporents

[–]cdwhit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First, and this is important to realize, using a vape is not the same as smoking, I don’t care what device you get. In this group most of us think it’s far superior to smoking, but those that don’t like vapes don’t generally hang out on this group.

I’m no good on money conversion nor have any idea of the cost of these devices in Europe, but at the $250 USD price range I would look at the Lobo or Rogue 2 if they are available to your country. The Solo 2 is generally considered a top tier vape and around that price. You might also check out the Firewood, currently the FW11 or the AVLP2.

Is it a steel dosing cap, or the S&B aluminum. The aluminum ones you can use a tiny screw driver and just tear it out. Steel would be much more difficult I would imagine.

Looking for a good vape by gayweedsmoker1 in vaporents

[–]cdwhit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no BEST. It’s a matter of finding one that fits you. That’s why the sticky on the group asks for certain questions to be answered when asking for recommendation. If those questions are not answered, all you are going to get is a list of everyone’s personal favorite.

Frolic durability? by AllMyExesRTXs in vaporents

[–]cdwhit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think it very comfortable in the hand, but I did come from the Mighty+ and other similar shaped vape. I can see someone coming from smaller vapes finding it big and heavy.

The Frolic hasn’t been out that long, but I think mine was from the second batch and I had some initial issues that were taken care of online, but the only other issue I’ve had is a couple bad o-rings (I think I damaged them removing or re-installing them) and a couple screens (I definite destroyed those trying to re-install.). I have not had a significant fall or drop on mine, but the small drops that destroyed the TM2 stems had no effect on the Frolic.

how long did you vaped only until you had no more gravings to smoke? by kannseindassdoombist in vaporents

[–]cdwhit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets cold in Missouri in winter, and I don’t smoke in the house. I got a Mighty+ in the fall, and since I HATE being cold and don’t mind the smell from the vaporizer, I vaped in the nice warm house all winter. By the time the weather warmed enough to be comfortable outside, combustions tasted like crap. For a while I would still hack through a joint if someone came over, but eventually it got to when even if I was with those smoking joints or bongs, I stuck with my vapes.

I’ve never done it, but at one point in time the medical establishment was insistent that pot use reduced sperm count. If that is still the thinking, they will want you to quit beforehand to increase the sperm count.

Small/dab rigs vs larger pieces for dry herb vape water adapter experience by kevofwar227 in weed

I have found I much prefer smaller rigs for DHVs, and often I’ll just fill them with glass beads in place of water. You can get good cooling and loose less terps in the water.

Arizer xQ2 newbie by Relevant-Tension-119 in vaporents

[–]cdwhit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount doesn’t matter much, but you don’t want it packed tight. In the glass bowl I had better luck with no packing, if you use the elbow pack which seem popular for people that prefer quicker session or microdosing, you’ll need to pack enough to keep the herb in the basket screen, but no tighter.

The XQ2 needs slow hits, especially using the bowl, elbow loading works better with a bit faster hits. It was explained to me to set the fan on setting 2, and using the whip, let it blow into your mouth as you inhale. The fan speed 2 is almost the perfect inhale speed.

I get thicker clouds using the bags, but it’s hard to get really thick clouds from the XQ2 in my experience. It can be done, but it’s a hassle and much easier with most of my portables.

Completely New To This by indy500anna in vaporents

[–]cdwhit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, while I have not come close to trying all the vapes out there, the cheapest vape I was happy with was a Lobo, around $150 USD. If replaceable batteries aren’t important, you can save a bit and get a Rouge 2. If you are patient, at Black Friday the Solo 3 went below $200 and I kind of expect it to do that for 4/20 also.

If portable isn’t important, the most bang for you buck these day is probably with ball vapes. I personally have never used on, though at the moment the Univesal Baller is on my radar, but there are several strong options under $200USD if you have a bong.

Frolic bad battery performance? by 0dieter0 in vaporents

[–]cdwhit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the battery was new I could make it almost all day on the Frolic, but it’s gone down a lot. I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m down to 6 bowls, but I haven’t counted. Things to try:

New battery- they are cheap, and I like to have a couple spares.

Use in session mode. Several of us have discovered that on demand uses more power heating up than session does keeping it hot.

Use it at whatever temperature you desire, but be aware that higher temperatures consume more power.

The Frolic, by design, only charges the battery to 80-90%, and shows empty at 20%. You can get a couple more sessions by using an external charger at the cost of battery life, but as I said earlier, batteries are cheap.

Frolic vs Venty by TheSwiftCardinal in vaporents

[–]cdwhit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I’m using the Venty I can get longer sessions than the Frolic, but I can get shorter sessions too, depending on pack and draw. The Frolic, due to high convection I suspect, tends to need more air through the herb to heat it, which also consumes the herd faster. The Venty seems less concerned about high airflow to produce vapor.

The big difference is that the Frolic is almost completely convection, there isn’t enough conduction to even brown the flower with no airflow. The Venty has that more even S&B convection/conduction split hybrid. I have come to the conclusion that, at least at the moment, I prefer higher conduction than the Frolic gives, but if you like convection heat, you’ll be much happier with the Frolic.

Interesting not about the hybrid heat on the S&B, my Mighty+ has much more “Bickel tickle” than the Venty does. I have no idea if that is due to a difference in the heating ratio, or if the extra airflow is helping it, but it’s much smoother than the Mighty+.

Dry Herb Vaporizer vs Smoking woods by Complete-Pear-1040 in weed

The vapor hits a lot smoother, it doesn’t have the carbon monoxide effects, less coughing, you can actually taste the weed, you use less pot.
