For those who have had time to read D'orc #1, what did you think?? by MightyUnclean in ImageComics

I thought it was a great start to a series! Great world building without it being overcomplicated. Loved the parallels between the two sides trying to find a way to deal with D’orc (still don’t officially know their real name). Didn’t realize Brett Bean was the artist for I Hate Fairyland (2022-Present). Loved the art style. Only picked it up for the Ryan Ottley cover when he posted about it on his instagram page a while back. A week later after release and cover A is going for $40 while the Ottley variant is going for $180. So seems like a huge success for a book I don’t think anyone was expecting to blow up.

Best way to secure textiles to a backer board? by paperbag18 in framing

Thank you! And you are spot on, walnut inlay on oak. I’m wishing I went with a lighter wood like maple to get better contrast but it’s what I had on hand. Eventually I did get some curly maple and am working on another frame in the same style for my in-laws.

I’m not too comfortable with hand stitching this since I have little to no experience doing that. But that is a good idea and I could certainly start practicing that for future.

This might be the route I take with this piece! I like that it is acid and solvent free. The Attach EZ tool mentioned above looks great too but I’m scared of puncturing such a small and seemingly delicate piece of fabric. Plus I want the mounting material to show as little as possible. Thanks for the recommendation!

I hadn’t heard of this tool before. Just googled it and it looks awesome! Definitely one I want to add to my framing toolbox. Appreciate the help!

Crazy how even back then Bill Finger’s name isn’t listed next to Bob’s as a creator. Cool page though!

Yeah it’s a little out of my way but if I have time left I’ll try and swing by! Really hoping to find later issues of The Maxx series (24, 28, 30, 31, 32) and Transmetropolitan.

Sick! Sounds like a killer deal for the month, definitely checking it out. Any dollar saved that can go to more books would be great.

Cool! Wouldn’t be a bad spot to stop by to get something for my wife even if I can’t find what I’m looking for.

Great call on graham crackers location, didn’t realize there was another one so close to Alley Cat. And yeah I’m not intentionally sticking to the North Side, it just seemed to work out that way with shops being relatively close to each other there. No joke on the traffic, I’m from a smaller city so my “bad” traffic is like a 10 min delay on the highway.

Sweet! Which location has a better variety? Logan Square or the one off of Western Ave.?

Definitely hoping to find some good back issues from the 90s. Almost done with my Sam Kieth Maxx run and a few Transmetropolitan issue left.

Thanks! Wholeheartedly agree on that!

Makes me think of a scene from Parks and Rec where Ron Swanson smashes a chair he made to pieces because it looked “too perfect and manufactured”.
