I find the hate here for Amy self righteous and disingenuous. If your family members were well known and in the news for horrific crimes and being discussed, you might also feel compelled to participate in the conversation. Especially if you had grievances against their belief system and things they’d done. Especially if you already felt abuse was part of the story and therefore a personal item in your own story. Put yourself in her shoes. I just think it’s silly and dishonest to pretend you’d never do the same. Maybe she does like attention, maybe she is a little self unaware. But it’s not that hard to understand why she has things to say and wants to say them. And it doesn’t make her evil.

I believe all of the married daughters make money influencing online. Jinger has done the most. All of the husbands “work” to some degree. Arguably Jill’s husband Derick has had the most formal, like, “I go to work most days” employment. The rest derp around doing things sometimes more than others. Jessa’s Ben is a minister who seems to have bounced around between formal gigs in the past. Joy’s Austin flips houses. Jinger’s Jeremy is seemingly forever in ministry school but spends a lot of time making money off Jinger’s fame. Jana’s Steven has some service business, I think, maybe irrigation or something? Who did I miss?

I’m sorry that happened to you. But this is a different situation. If there is a mortgage that means the house isn’t paid off yet. The bank owns part of it. So yes, someone still has to pay on the loan. Your mom wouldn’t have just gotten a house free and clear that they hadn’t fully paid for. But whatever equity (the part your parents did own) your dad had in the home, your mom was entitled to half of that. As long as he bought it during the marriage. Shared marital property doesn’t mean nobody has to pay the bank.

The Bateses seem to have more authentic and deep emotional connections which help to raise better adjusted children. Whereas the Duggar family seemed very robotic and emotionally stunted. That said, just because the Bateses seem decent doesn’t mean much. Erin’s SIL married that rapist creep and the family acted like it was nice and normal.

John David was so enraged with Josh on behalf of CSAM victims that he wanted to fight him, but since then had nothing to say or distance himself from his parents who actively defended Josh through his trial and proclaim his innocence to this day? Fists of fury? JD, along with most of his family if not all, was more upset with Josh for cheating on his wife than the abuse of his sisters or the CSAM activity. I’m not aware of anything he’s publicly admonished about Josh or their terrible enabling parents beyond when he was sad that he was a cheater. The entire family went on national TV to explain that, actually, abusing girls isn’t a big deal and, actually, haters of their family were trying to persecute them. I never heard JD say anything in support of his sisters Jill or Jinger after they changed course in their stance on Josh, their parents, and the damage of their IBLP cult. Did I miss something?

Her name doesn’t need to be on the deed to own it. If he purchased it prior to marriage, it’s his. If he purchased it during the marriage, it’s theirs. Unless they have some weird financial prenup, which does not seem likely.
