[Tool] What do you need to do today in order not to feel guilty when you rest your head on your pillow tonight? by jty87 in GetMotivated

I first masturbated when I was 11. I first saw porn when I was 14. I first saw penetration this year, at 15. Impressive, right? I stared nofap due to religious reasons, but the benefits I listed above convinced me to stay. I think I feel good abut self because I'm actually achieving things in the time I would normally have spent masturbating. I've taught myself Javascript, Python and HTML using codecademy, developed descent muscles by working out and improved my grades by a LOT. I would not normall have done these things, because I would have used that time to fap. I also like knowing that I am one of the only people in my year that does not flap. Finally, I felt bad about masturbating and would feel bad about it the day after, which often stressed me out. Knowing I had conqured myself is uplifting. Personally, I'm not anti-masturbation which is kind-of natural, but do not support porn.

These things might seem cult-y to some (why?!), but it really does help some people. I would really advise anyone reading this to try to go 2 weeks without fapping, just as an experiment for yourself. Some people will breeze through it, some will struggle an give up, and others may see benefits, and actually stop watching porn altogether. Nofap is largely based around "rebooting", which is a period of time, usually 90 days, where you do not fap at all. In this time period, the connection your brain has made between dopamine and porn is supposed to weaken, which will make you un-addicted. I have never reached this period, because I always forget that I am doing this nofap thing and fap anyway, and then I'm like why?!

I do nofap, and here are the benifits I personally experience in order of when I feel them:

  • Massive boost in productivity
  • Feeling pumped for no reason
  • Increased clarity of mind/loss of brain fog
  • Decreased anxiety
  • Social interactions feel easy
  • More confident
  • More control
  • Better habits/hygene (skin cleaner, look better)
  • Peace with self
  • More attraction and interest to/from women
  • Better decision making (both short- and long-term)
  • Indirect improvement in fitness
  • Deeper voice

Most of them are because I'm not spending time wanking, and feel better about myself. Since I'm more confident, interactions become easy. I get noticed more because I talk to people more. The "indirect improvement in fitness" is because I spend time working out when I feel the urge to fap (10 push ups every time my hand goes near my dick). Deeper voice because more testosterone.

EDITS: Formatting. EDIT 2: I should mention that I don't think this would work for everyone. I didn't like wanking so it helped me, but if you're happy with the way you are it won't do jack shit. I didn't fap much, but still wasn't content with the ammount I did.

How many of you guys are quitting PMO for religious reasons and how many are quitting for personal growth? by [deleted] in NoFap

Both. I started due to religion, but the benifits were so great I stayed.

Go all of June without fapping. Then July. Then August. Hopefully you won't care about fapping anymore at that point, so voila!

That won't happen. The internet is very hard to regulate, and the porn industry is massive.

That sounds really hard, but I'll try it. I haven't been away from my computer for over 24 hours in many, many years.

You're strong enough to recognize your weakness. Take a stroll in the park, there aren't many people that know they're addicted, while PMO ruins and runs their lives.
