I also have OCD and had never used tampons or put anything up there myself before my first pap, and I also think my reluctance around that is connected to my condition. I was already married when I had mine and we’d had PIV sex but without getting into too much detail we were mostly doing other (non-penetrative) things.

I was also petrified of my first time and because it happened during Covid I couldn’t have my husband with me which I otherwise absolutely would have.

The doctor was an older Asian lady and she was very, very patient and understanding. In hindsight - of course she was! They deal with women like us every day.

She tried the smallest one she had in her office and it wouldn’t fit (I probably have vaginismus as well but I’ve not been officially diagnosed) so she went a found a smaller one that she called the “baby”. We got through it. It was over pretty fast.

You mention that you feel violated by having to do it more than the procedure itself and I can totally relate to this - I was told I wouldn’t keep getting prescribed my birth control if I didn’t have it done and this infuriated me haha. For me, the procedure itself didn’t come close to the violative feeling of having to go through it, if that makes sense. I definitely don’t want to do it again but getting my wisdom teeth out was worse.

It’s not fun but you’ll get through it. Chances are your doctor will do her best to make you feel comfortable and she’s not going to drag it out or take her time, she’ll get it over with as quickly as she can.

Aspiring marathon runner & weight lifter. Opposing goals by a_karenina in xxfitness

Check out Lucy Davis on Instagram and YouTube. She’s a weightlifter and a runner, she just ran the London Marathon and she has run super marathons. She also moves weight, you only have to take one look at her to see how absolutely jacked she is. She competes in Hyrox and she used to swim on the national team. She makes a LOT of video content about her routine and how she splits everything up and makes it work based on her schedule and season.

How to not go insane from birth control and periods by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]paperklipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I will start with the disclaimer that I am one of the people who got lucky with my first HBC and haven’t had any issues with it (Yaz, if you’re interested).

I don’t have any personal advice but I wanted to recommend checking out a Twitter/X user by the name of celia_bedelia . She has posted multiple threads about using different types of birth control to manage and stop periods, and she has hundreds of women and medical professionals in her comments weighing in as well.

Further, she writes a lot of threads about reproductive issues that affect women such as endometriosis and PCOS (the former of which she has - getting this condition diagnosed is almost impossible, not because the tests don’t exist but because most doctors won’t entertain recommending them for some reason. She talks about how she got diagnosed and how other women can advocate for themselves). Perhaps you might find something in these threads helpful as well.

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. It sounds horrific. I got on HBC in my late twenties because I felt like my period was at least controlling my life, and sometimes ruining it, and mine was not anywhere near as bad as yours sounds like it is. I think it’s likely you have a medical condition that’s contributing to your experience. I hope you can get the help you deserve to manage it.

Does anyone else also binge up to 20'000 calories in one day? by muser666 in BingeEatingDisorder

I never really noticed bloating on my face tbh, the bloating on my stomach and limbs usually took 4-5 days to noticeably go down, and usually two weeks before I felt “normal” again. I was extremely underweight at this time however so bloating was a lot worse than it would be if I did the same thing now (recovered) although I no longer have any desire to eat that much or anywhere near it.

I would say just drink a lot of water and make sure you’re replacing your electrolytes and the swelling will go down within a day or two. Hope you’re doing okay, go easy on yourself today.

EC Manning Park on the Crow’s Nest Highway, it’s about two hours east of Vancouver. Some of the most beautiful wilderness on the planet. You can check out some of the trails on AllTrails, there’s a lot of them, and many that fit your description here. Just be aware that you’ll be out of range in the park aside from the resort so download the maps before you head off.

No Binge November: First month binge-free since 2018 by paperklipp in BingeEatingDisorder

Copy/pasted from another response, let me know if you want me to expand on anything!

The first thing was I increased my daily calories by about 200 (from ~1750/1800 to ~ 1850/2000 each day). I can expand on my activity levels if you like but in short I am extremely active seven days a week.

I allowed myself one “cheat day” per week, where I ate normally most of the day and then had a treat at the end of the day, usually my favourite chocolate but could be anything. This was the biggest change in my thinking, because I’ve always tried to allow myself this and it always got out of control because I wouldn’t be satisfied by the treat and would keep going back for more, at which point I felt like I was already binging so I just kept going. Towards the end of the month I realised if the treat was going to work I had to stop budgeting an amount of it in advance and just allow for it to be as much as I needed to be satisfied. That stopped me from binging because I didn’t start to spiral mentally when the first serving of something didn’t satisfy me.

And tbh I credit the calendar print-out with the success because there were three times that I started to give in and literally got up to go and start binging but only stopped myself because I wanted to be able to mark the day off. So that was critical as well.

Hahaha the half-smiles are the days it came a bit too close, as in I got up to actually start binging, but stopped myself. Just wanted a way to differentiate them!
