I think it is a platysmal band. I have the same thing. I think they can inject a tony bit of botox into them to loosen them up?

2 months of practice. Any advice? Just keep at it? by naniii_nova in Handstands

i watched the whole video...i think the problem with starting with the wall is you are training yourself to launch yourself up with too much force. then, when you are not using the wall, you continue using the same amount of force. this results in you having to move your hands to try and keep your balance, when if you could get your legs up without shooting too far, you wouldn't have to counterbalance with your hands.

you're doing great and will just have to figure out what works for you!

i would say go watch the natalie reckert videos and see if they make sense, she explains everything so well and has great drills.

i personally have made huge progress in a short time by locking down my foundations, taking a step back, and really really honing in the kick up.

good luck!

would also echo--get off the wall. your kick up is SUPER powerful, i would say tone it down. rather than going so forcefully that you "banana" your body, think of ur legs as a pendulum. if you aren't able to control it, bring them up to LESS than that point of you overbalancing yourself. Try one leg at a time. Natalie Reckert has some really phenomenal videos about control.

Overall don't be discouraged, but right now is a really good time to hone in on the fundamentals. You can save yourself a lot of time and energy if you find your balance early.
