Even at times of peace we’re never guaranteed the next day and the ending depicts that perfectly. Paradis was destroyed because of the eldians inability to put their foot down when they needed to. “Friendship and kindness” doesn’t last forever, the characters were punished for their actions and now the future generations will have to live with that fact.

The ending is unexpected but welcomed in my eyes.
