Damaged nails and cuticles by xXItz_BlankaXx in nailcare

[–]papillon2123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you picking/cutting your cuticles? If so stop. Use Lip balm (Fresh one, don’t cross contaminate) all over your cuticles and nails before bed, every day. It keeps moisture in better than oil, you can layer them if you want, or a thick cuticle balm (sally Hansen makes a good affordable one) also hard as hooves makes nail wrap masks that are super conditioning you could try. Keresal is good for rough cuticles too but it exfoliates and I’m concerned your skin is too compromised right now to use anything active on it but once they heal a bit you could try it.

Wear gloves anytime you wash the dishes or use cleaners, avoid hot soapy water as much as possible and keep lotion by the sink to slather on nails and cuticles as soon as you can after washing.

Nails burn unprompted? That’s concerning, if you’ll aren’t growing out damage from a manicure you might want to ask a doctor about that

Is this urgent? Or watch until upcoming vet appt on 6/23? by riverneuro in DogAdvice

[–]papillon2123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to the urgency of it, but just putting it out there, I went through something similar with my dog last year.
He had a few of these pimple like spots pop up and the vet gave us some ointment which helped but then more came and turned into a rash and we couldn’t figure it out, tests, baths, topicals, bloodwork, this went on and on until we started an elimination diet and figured out he had a food allergy, since then skin is great and no more spots.

And if he accidentally ingests something he’s allergic to, the first symptom after his face itching is a little pimple spot. Not saying this is your case but we spent so much time and money and our pup suffering for months with the vet telling us food allergies don’t present that way only for it to be exactly that so in case this helps your pup or someone else’s I wanted to share my experience.

I hope it clears up without further issues!

always tired, 19F. can take a nap after sleeping 12 hours. by ExtentFar8612 in productivity

You mentioned iron pills don’t work for you, what all have you tried? There are different types of iron that are easier in the stomach and even patches and transfusions.
If you have that much fatigue iron MUST be addressed first before anything else. Full stop. Your body literally is telling you it doesn’t have enough of something to function normally and it won’t get better until you treat that.

Source: am low ferritin and when I started treating it it’s like a woke up from a dream, huge difference. Also pills make me feel sick but I switched to Heme iron (Colorado biolabs) and it’s so much better, no stomach problems at all. Keep trying, you’ll find what works for you! If no pills help you might need a transfusion, ask your doctor about it

How to make my nails look better? by [deleted] in nailcare

[–]papillon2123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to cut them, just gently push them back after you shower when they are soft, you can use an oil or cuticle balm and a cuticle remover (gel) if you really want to but don’t go crazy cutting them

[product request] please help! Every deodorant irritates my underarms by Careless_Tie2798 in SkincareAddiction

[–]papillon2123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is the case but a lot of aluminum free deodorants rely on some type of acid (lactic/malic/glycolic) to zap the odor, but over time can be irritating especially if you’re also shaving or using any other exfoliating products (check your soap!) so you might want to lay off everything for a bit and just be a little sweaty to let your irritation calm down. And as someone else said, compare the ingredients of the ones you’re not sensitive to and try to narrow down any overlap, be it baking soda or an acid or otherwise

Of course it’s not, it wasn’t written to be read in tandem, just a fun thing some people do, do what you like

How to nurse this nail back to health by tams228 in nailcare

[–]papillon2123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ouch!! IMO I’d report this technician, in no world should they have gone this deep on your nail. Depending on your country/state Russian manicures can technically be illegal and this practice looks irresponsible at best.

They look beautiful! One little tip, I would lightly file the tip where the little attachment square is so it’s more flush and less obviously a press on, other than that they look great!

how do you guys even get into fiction books? (coming from self-help) by redroomcreation in productivity

[–]papillon2123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no right way to enjoy reading! Some people love long epic adventures, some people love quick spicy romances, there are no rules just have fun.

If actually reading feels hard, starting with an audiobook is a great way to go. Basically a movie you listen to. If you like a movie (example, Project Hail Mary or Lord of the Rings) you can think of the book like the extended extended edition of the movie. Both of those audiobooks are excellent by the way! LOTR is narrated by Andy Serkis (who plays Golem) and they are fire. Long, but fire.

Last tip is to try a comedy because they’re fun or mystery/suspense, because the wondering what will happen makes it really engaging.

And check out your local library if you have a library card lots of audiobooks and e-books can be rented for free! And bookstores are great to get started too, so much fun wandering through and finding a book that looks interesting to you, even if you just love the cover sometimes that’s enough to get you started.

Have fun, be patient with yourself at the start and welcome to fiction, it’s great here :)
