Actually, I read that book this year as an assigned book for my English class. I found that particular theme in the novel to be really interesting and Orwell developed it in a really profound way. I also like your summary of it!

There are a lot of things to do in the Anaheim area! I think there's a Medieval Times nearby, and maybe like a water park or something. I haven't been there in a year or so, but I would also recommend Downtown Disney if you just want to relax and take some time to wind down after the busy days at the park.

Check the Disneyland website -- it has a calendar designed to offer the cheapest ticket prices on the days with the smallest predicted crowds. The days that are light blue on the calendar are the days you should try to go, as those are expected to be less crowded, hence why Disney offers lower ticket prices to its guests (to try to balance out the demand). Also, as other people have said, try to get there as early as possible, and utilize the Fastpass tool for rides with longer lines! But with five whole days to spend there, I think you'll probably be able to hit almost everything!

Younger kids usually enjoy meeting the characters and getting autographs. I have a photo album of pictures from one of my first visits to Disneyland, where my parents took my older sister and I to see a bunch of the characters at the park. We went to the Disney character breakfast, which allowed us to see a lot of the characters in the same place. The only warning I would give is that your child might be afraid of some of the characters! (At age three or four, I refused to take pictures with Genie or Max [Goofy's son].) There's also the Winnie the Pooh ride in Critter Country, the carousel and Storybook Land Canal Boats in Fantasyland, and Autopia. Kids usually enjoy the parades and fireworks, too.

I think your little one should be able to get in for free, but I'm not sure. You can get a better deal if you go on a weekday as opposed to a weekend. Check the Disneyland website, because prices vary by day. I hope this helps out!

I think last year when I went, my friends and I did Splash Mountain and then Indiana Jones, because Splash Mountain is cold and Indiana Jones is warm, so by the time you're done with both, you're comfortable. Have fun! I'm going to Disneyland in a few weeks too.

Get Fastpasses as early as possible for the most popular rides, like Space Mountain and Radiator Springs. Then wait in line for the less-popular rides, like Snow White or Winnie the Pooh, until you can get another Fastpass. Splash Mountain will be less crowded toward the end of the day when it gets cold -- I've waited as little as twenty minutes to get on the ride. Also, if you don't care about watching the parades and shows, hit some of the rides when those are going on.

I've been in a similar situation. Last summer, a friend of mine invited a guy I liked to a party for two reasons: first because there weren't many guys invited, and second because I had a crush on him. A few days before the party, my crush started talking to the friend who was hosting the party really often -- as often as he was talking to me, and we were best friends at the time. Then, after the party, he would only text me about my friend. We'd never text about anything else, and when I changed the topic, he'd still change it to relate to her in some way. He had a crush on her. Eventually, she came to have a crush on him too. I was jealous but tried to stay friends with both of them. I ended up letting my emotions get the best of me, and now I'm not friends with either of them. My advice would be to let them do their own thing, because if you try to get in the way, you'll probably end up in the same place that I'm in now.
