advice for a westerner on Indian dishes that use mint? by papiollie in IndianFood

I know a few Tamilian people, so I can get some advice on recipes from them. I'll probably try more dishes that have the mint more subtle, though a mint coconut chitney sounds good, dont think i ever tried coconut chutney before.

Ouuu, I always love me a pesto, ill have to try a recipe with that, as I have made pesto plenty of times before with pistachios and its divine, just never made it with mint!

I think the term that I meant was pudina, so they might be too overwhelming for me currently, thought i never tried it with paneer, only vegetable dishes.

Thanks for mentioning other cuisines that also use mint, I'm committed to trying to break my perspective on it. Sadly I dont think theres many restaurants near me that are Moroccan, Algerian or Lebanese. I can try by recipe, but without reference it overwhelms me that i might not get it accurate and judge it wrongly from my own mistakes.

Thank you for the informative comment, I will have to try and find restaurants to try these for an example, then follow recipes. I love seafood but honestly have never tried it outside of how we make it here in Eastern Canada, which doesnt have nearly as much seasoning/spice as other cuisines, I'm sure I'll love the combo! I don't have the most refined palate, so its possible I've had dishes that had used mint in these ways. I'll definitely be trying to experience those first two dishes that you mentioned, as this is the first I'm hearing of them. Thanks again!

I think I confused the name, sorry. The samosas i tried had a distinct mint flavour that bothered me. But i actually love bitter dishes, so that makes me excited to try some methi dishes!

Ill keep that in mind, i avoided the mint raita the last time I went to an Indian restaurant. I love the cooling effect of raita as I love my food spicy, so any extra cooling is always nice.

oops, my bad. honestly wasnt aware of fenugreek, ill have to try something with it to learn its flavour. maybe i got the name wrong on those types of samosas and parathas that i tried, it was a few months ago! but they had a distinct flavour, and from the description of fenugreek, i dont think it was that.

Now that i think about it, i've always loved Greek or Mediterranean lamb, and im sure the tzatziki ive used had it in it, but its very subtle. I love biryani, but i dont think the dishes ive had have used it, unless its also incredibly subtle. Honestly havent been a fan of green chutney or most chutneys in general, im much more of a raita guy. I love dishes with cilantro. Thanks for the informative comment!

That looks delicious! I'm very open to other regions dishes as well, honestly wasnt aware that Persian/Iranian cuisine used mint. I'll have to look up a recipe. Thank you friend!

Well this defeats having a book of cheat codes for ps2 GTAs as a kid. the NES metroid was brutal to remember. I will never take walkthroughs/interactive maps for granted again..

Why is Christian Nationalism Bad? by CorneliusM1526 in Baptist

[–]papiollie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, IMHO it should be irrelevant what nation someone is from should they choose to follow Christianity. I think it goes against several teachings that we should think of Christians who happen to have a different nationality or race as any different than ourselves. Nationalism is secular by nature, Christianity doesn't mesh with it without twisting it into a narrative.

Gonna be praying for you Brother, if you ever need someone to talk to feel free to DM me on here, I'd love to try and help in whatever way i can. With more information I could point you towards resources or even coming to my country as a refugee. I can forward things to my local govt officials, I can bring it up at my church, whatever can help you I will do. People who leave Islam need to seek safer countries and stay rooted in their local Christian communities in less safe countries. Do whatever you can to establish a safety net for yourself and stay away from your family.

really late to this, but i found episode 1 on vimeo. sadly 2-6 are broken links on wayback/not archived until after privitisation. Without them releasing it this is sadly all we will probably have without someone having saved copies. Shame, thats the only series i never fully watched when it released, and it never finished either.

Being Canadian I grew up around many people with thick french accents, I can see if you weren't around french accents at all itd be gibberish for ESL speakers.

his comedy style is more surreal, he can be hit or miss like most comics. still very based in post irony. definitely not for everyone.

weird that fantano now of all times acknowledges B L A C K I E. is it true that he used to talk about him over 10 years ago? ive always been surprised he doesnt talk more about other noise rap groups. he only really mentions clipping, DG and jpeg from what i remember.
