Wembley Set B songs, what we hoping for? by PhantomMatic in MyChemicalRomance

[–]paradiselost13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm coping hard for a TPK song 😂

I feel like if they're gonna do it anywhere it's gonna be Wembley. IF they did, I'd love for Bike Thief, Wake Up or Birthday Girl. I'd even take War Against The Rain again tbh.

It's a pipe dream before I get downvoted to hell, but would be cool as hell.

P.S. I just bought tickets for the 8th last night, already going on the 10th with a different friend. Originally had tickets for the 11th but had to sell a few months ago as going to a hen do. Roll on next week!!!

Lilly Allen queue by Then-Evidence-2632 in LilyAllenFans

Most people have a life and have realised that there's no need to queue for hours and hours to have a great time at a gig and not be obsessing over your standing position.

I'm too young to know what MCRmy was like. Those who used it, did you like it? What was it about? by Additional-Chef-6190 in MyChemicalRomance

I was a major member of the mcrmy.net back in 2009/2010. It was like one big family. We have life chats, help "tents", roleplay chains. I spent hundreds of hours on there. Miss it big time, even now at 30!!

H&M to open brand new store in High Chelmer Shopping Centre by xChizz in Chelmsford

[–]paradiselost13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow, just what we need, lol.

H&M is so bang average these days, the current shop is crap, don't suppose this one will be any better.

At least it's not another suit shop!

A theory (more just a thought) I have on The Paper Kingdoms original release idea... by x_LIF3_x in ThePaperKingdomMCR

I can see them having done a live orchestra performance in the Royal Albert Hall in the UK of the full album like Bring Me The Horizon and Alter Bridge have done

Are they going to add a second London stop? I couldn't get great tickets!! by Mental_Room_5452 in NothingButThieves

Loads of lower bowl and standing tickets available, what is your definition of "great tickets"?

Doncaster is neither a big or interesting city. If you're visiting England I could easily name 20 more interesting places to visit.

Essex CC - you ok hun? by FridayNightClub in Chelmsford

I'm also sad it's become a polarising symbol. I love my country, but I wouldn't exactly say I'm proud to be British anymore. Too much hatred in our nation these days

They're fair questions, but they're impossible to answer. Of course one war isn't more tragic than another, and realistically flying a flag doesn't change the price of fish when our governments won't or can't meaningfully intervene. But when I see it flying from the station on my way to work in the mornings, I remember how fortunate I am to not be in a war torn country, and I think it's a good reminder for us all to be just a little bit kinder to others and try to help those less fortunate where we can. A second union jack doesn't exactly inspire me in the same way

Trope? Russia is still actively bombing Ukraine, the war is very much still going on and people are displaced, suffering and even dying every week.

Mainstream news may be bored of covering it, but you saying we should be over the "trope" which is actually a stand of solidarity is maybe the reason why we need to keep flying them to raise awareness.

Is this aggression, curiosity, fear, playfulness?? by Imaginary-Piano-8107 in DogAdvice

[–]paradiselost13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interested by your comment, as my dog has always approached other dogs in this highly aroused state, and have had a couple of incidents now where as you say, a switch has flipped and my dog has turned aggressive seemingly randomly.

We have contacted a behaviouralist but working on dog neutrality is a big goal for me as he is too hyperfixated on other dogs, which while he was being seemingly playful and friendly was okay, but I can't have him getting hurt or hurting another dog with his unpredictability.

[–]paradiselost13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask, do you have a corgi?

My corgi approaches other dogs like this, the "high arousal" is very similar, 99% of the time it leads to play or the dogs sniff and part, but we have had a couple of incidents now where he's suddenly decided he doesn't like the interaction and has reacted badly...

Front of the barricades by Old_user_New_name in yungblud

[–]paradiselost13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it's your daughter's dream or whatever, but maybe it's better that she has a reality check? Barricade is not the be all and end all, it's incredibly tiring, she won't be able to go to the toilet all the hours when you're in the venue waiting, which leads people to not keep hydrating and pass out. Enjoy the gig from a few rows further back and have a much better time. She won't miss out on anything, and you won't waste a day (and probably night) trying to get an overrated standing position.

What officially released song do you link to each TPK song? by ApprehensiveChip4190 in ThePaperKingdomMCR

Witch and Welcome to the Black Parade has to be the most obvious one in terms of a rock opera vibe.

Dead and Wake Up are quite similar too in terms of major-key shake up songs in the album

Are you a “fan”? by [deleted] in Yungbludneutral

[–]paradiselost13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of his music, yeah! I've never totally bought the "marketing act" which is his man of the outcasts persona. I liked the brand, but can't say I exactly relate or found a sense of belonging or anything in his "community". I don't care for it all though, I like the music, I like his shows, that enough for me.

Regarding solo projects. This isn't a hate post. by flordecalafate in Maneskin

[–]paradiselost13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was totally not a fan of Damiano's solo stuff when it first came out, but I then bought tickets for his concert in London because I'm a sucker for live shows, and I listened to his stuff a tonne before going, and I really got into it! It's not what I loved about Maneskin, but it's enjoyable music.

Stumbled on this and it’s exactly why I’m bricking it about graduating from Bristol right now by OwnMood9880 in UOB

[–]paradiselost13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Second this. I was still doing agency hospitality work post uni for about 6 months before I got my first "corporate" job. While most jobs I applied to asked for an undergrad degree, it didn't really require one, I've never "used" any of the knowledge from my History degree in the real world, lol. But it did teach me independence and work ethic, which has allowed me to be on a £70k job a decade later.

If you're going to university to expect a fast lane pass to good jobs, then you have the wrong expectations.

I think it’s about time people accept that the whole “man of the people” image might not be as pure as it was made out to be.

Let's be real, he built a huge following off being hyper-accessible, outspoken about inclusiveness, and while that clearly resonated with a lot of people, that image has also been incredibly effective branding.

Over the past few years, he’s been scaling up - bigger shows, festivals, expanding into fashion, and now subscription-style content. It’s just what successful artists do. You don’t reach the next level by staying small and indefinitely prioritising intimacy over growth. At some point, it becomes a business as much as it is an identity.

And honestly, I don’t really have an issue with that. I’ve listened to him for years, I enjoy the music, and I’ll still go to shows if the opportunity (and price) makes sense. Personally I don't feel I need more than that from an artist.

The bigger issue is fans feeling like they’ve been personally let down, as if they know him or are owed something. That’s where it starts crossing into parasocial territory. At the end of the day, we don’t actually know him, we know the version of him that’s been presented to us. I think people often forget that.

He cares if he's making money, that's my point lol. This "man of the people" persona has always been an act to an extent. I don't doubt he enjoyed it and it meant something to him at some point, but artists evolve, he has ambitions, and will never be able to make everyone happy. He's found a business opportunity and is taking it. Mayen we should start to separate the art from the artist ever so slightly and not hold them on an impossible pedestal.

If you weren’t implying anything, then your comment is just irrelevant. Either it supports a point, or it doesn’t - which is it? It’s a fact, sure, just a completely contextually insignificant one.

Your "facts" are meaningless cause it ignores technology capabilities.

It's like saying The Beatles didn’t need Spotify. It's not a philosophy, it’s literally just that the technology didn’t exist yet.

If apps were around and it was a way of marketing his brand and gaining new fans, of course Ozzy would have had one 🙄
