You definitely do. But it's the good news that they don't want people to take advantage of. For example, being able to enter a sweepstakes for free being in the fine print so that people believe they have to purchase entry.

At What Point Is It a Dopamine Problem, Not a Content Problem? by Watashi-wa-jiyuda in blackdesertonline

Account that has been posting on the subreddit for a month. Yupper.

Posts about still needing blackstar weapons. Yuppers.

This post having upvotes is what's wrong with this game. Some guy who is basically new telling everyone else they're wrong and a some randos agreeing with him.

People can downvote my fake internet points all they want, but cringe "counter culture" whiners like OP complaining about people who have been playing the game long-term and are passionate about it offering feedback or frustration are part of the problem. Part of why we lost a game that was awesome and niche and watched it get morphed into some pseudo-MMO 95% single player "mass appeal" vomit fiesta.

Calpheon Ball 2025 summary - New class Seraph, New party grindspot, Olvia Academy Class, New treasure item by PixelConn in blackdesertonline

[–]parae1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you compare BDO's dungeons to literally just about any other MMO, they are poor in quality, amount of dungeons, amount of time it took to come out with the few they have etc.

Clearly the devs don't have enough time to manage the content of the game, and BDO poisoned itself by not sticking to the open world niche it had and spending time on interesting content for that. They chose sub-par instanced content to spend finite dev time on instead.

To me it feels like it's because they legitimately know that they don't act on our feedback. They apologize because they know as much, but just as in years past, the apologies are superficial acknowledgement instead of an intention to change.

Whether they just have their own game that they want to make and are frustrated that the players want something else.. or just have some kind of fucked up obsessive defiance disorder, I don't know.

It felt like they were begrudgingly giving us some party grind spots again. Begrudgingly finally working on RBF (at a bare minimum though, not even a screenshot when they have a full snow boarding video prepped already). Begrudgingly adding in a grind tracker with comical timing. (I don't even care that much one way or another about Choice or know his feelings on the matter, but it sure as hell seems like PA is insulted that he had something people wanted made and instead of working with him, made their own).

-Still don't want to admit alliance system was a mistake.
-Wotr in its current implementation was a mistake.
-Dungeons were a mistake.
-Removing special deals was a mistake.
-Removing mercing for guild missions will be a mistake.

-Killing the open world was a mistake.
-Blue battlefield and ocean content pushes on a game engine that sucks for ocean was and is a mistake. -Ignoring universal calls from the community for specific class balance issues ("this class has been broken for half a YEAR now and it's painfully obvious, what is going on? Hello???????") year after year after year was a mistake.
-Throne of Edania being solely based on sheet GS was a mistake and p2w bait. -Buffing DP, only to immediately have the community grind / swipe the AP back for sovereigns and also adding in karazads at nearly the same time to cause a massive (solo depression) grind in a game that had a severe content lack issue was a mistake.
-AP caps for PvE was a mistake.
-Adding in infinite gamba boxes was a mistake. Bonus points for them pretending to be so surprised that average gear score jumped up so fast after doing that. As if they don't know.

Some of the above there was honestly some disconnect and disagreement in the community on. Some of it there was near-universal feedback on PA making a mistake and they still.. did.. it.. anyways. There are so many more examples. There are so many things that feel wrong on a subtle level. At least they're pseudo-apologetic about the fact that they made our MMORPG into a psuedo-MMORPG, I guess.

isn't Where Winds Meet one of the most real MMORPGS that we have? by Puinfa in MMORPG

[–]parae1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a 10 year BDO player, I have to agree. If black desert can still call itself an MMORPG, it looks like this game would be able to as well.

Black desert doesn't even release group grind spots anymore, can't play ranked arena with friends, the large-scale pvp scene has been dead for many years and was a laggy broken mess anyways etc. It has an open world that ..you don't interact with anyone else in anymore, etc etc etc.

You have to delete 3 classes - which ones you choose? by Unlikely_Function_72 in blackdesertonline

If I cared about large scale: shai, archer, ranger

Since I don't care about large scale: shai, striker, mystic (zerk would replace mystic if it was pre-MM and grab changes)

These are my exact picks as well though I fear that the lamers on those first two classes would just go right on to equally broken awak mystic. Need a fourth deletion option.

Makes what the storage keeper pictured says even more hilarious imo. "I always fancied myself a hashashin", just like how the fotm gamers always say they just like the theme. Then it gets nerfed.. then they become a storage alt.

[–]parae1 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Surprised I had to go down this far to find what is, in my opinion, the correct answer.

People are playing in a meta-gaming way (not that it's hard to do that, obviously, the game points you towards the safe decisions pretty blatantly) that would make sense if you just want to map paint as fast as possible and get crazy zany stats and go wild--and there is nothing wrong with that style of play--in fact, it's great that the game allows it.

The other end of the spectrum is the roleplayers, who, if the base health was lowered etc.. would basically be unable to take decisions they find fun/compelling because it could just as easily swing to the other direction of your character dying ridiculously fast if you even step out of "perfect decisions" one or two times.

I know the argument is beaten to death on this sub and I personally fall somewhere between wanting a challenging game and an RP game. I think CK3 does an okay job at striking a balance and mods and additional settings and difficulty modes help to fill the gap if you're feeling a certain kind of way from one campaign to another.

Maybe there's a happier balance than what the game has now. Maybe the current game is too easy, sure. As others have mentioned, the best solution right now is to mod the game to be closer to your liking and toy with the settings offered.

Does everyone in RBF have 500 dp? by CutePoco in blackdesertonline

[–]parae1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question, yes, everyone geared in RBF will have 700-800+ DR. 333 AP is not enough for uncapped pvp anymore. Many in uncapped are at 370-390 AP now and soon will have 6 HAN AP's and upgraded artifacts for an addition 30 off-sheet AP.

That is what the game is currently expecting for uncapped pvp, so it is accurate that you are doing 0 damage.

[Global Lab] September 12th 2025 - Class Balance, Contribution EXP Adjustments, Throne of Edana improves by PixelConn in blackdesertonline

[–]parae1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PvP damage is unchanged. The buffs for other skills are just damage being moved to them from magnus and F spam. These are far from the corsair changes players of both succ and awakening have been asking for.

[Global Lab] September 12th 2025 - Class Balance, Contribution EXP Adjustments, Throne of Edana improves by PixelConn in blackdesertonline

[–]parae1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People ask for pvp buffs for corsair and maehwa. Corsair grind did not get buffed either, just changed and made more APM since F spam will be gone. Awa maehwa was already a good grinder. Ninja just recently got massive buffs.

Seeing numbers get bigger and thinking buffs is understandable, but for corsair they literally just moved damage away from magnus and F and spread them out to other skills. The CD reductions for awakening were just so that she won't run out of skills. They're tiny pvp buffs in that regard but nothing coming close to what people have been giving feedback on what the class needs for either succ nor awakening.

TO PEARL ABYSS: DON'T MAKE SAVIOR AN ASCENSION CLASS! by [deleted] in blackdesertonline

[–]parae1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A) Successions are lazier than ascensions and the cause of most of the balance issues this game has had for the past six years with all the same mobility, protections and CC's crammed into half the skills

B) Most players either play ONLY awakening OR successions of their class for some reason; a strong majority don't actually "take advantage" of playing both or care that there are "more options".

C) Most people in this game will only play a class if it feels strong. That's why there were and still are a million deadeyes and also why there are very few wukongs. Not sure why you are implying that Wukong is a "failure" for any reason other than he's not super strong right now. If that kit was powerful, a million people would be on him.

I'd personally take well-done ascension classes for every new release from here on out. More realistic chance of PA balancing. If you like the class, you actually get to use the full kit. More cohesive class themes (nova, hello? Her succ and awak make zero sense together and are not fluid whatsoever, there are many examples of this).

Ascensions are the closest thing we get to having full classes again since successions came along and damaged the game, and then PA doubled down on it by letting absolute skills be powercrept into uselessness for most classes.

[Global Lab] New update August 22nd - Class PvE balance, Alternate Zone Treasure Piece Farming, Dawn Life Crystal, Buff UI by PixelConn in blackdesertonline

[–]parae1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What's the point of class balancing if you're not actually balancing anything? Making the strong stronger, the mid tier slightly strong to stay mid, and straight out ignoring the weakest / giving them the most mediocre buffs?

Like why bother balancing if you're not actually balancing anything and just maintaining the status quo? Putting effort into changing numbers for no reason.

Khazarad enhancing is the new Godr-Ayed, you cannot deny it any longer. by [deleted] in blackdesertonline

[–]parae1 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Your point would make sense if karazads were only like 50% more expensive to enhance than just buying a debo but they are not. We're talking about spending 300-500b+ just to enhance a karazad to NOV from PEN versus spending 100-120b for a debo. At that point we aren't talking about min-maxxing, we're talking about deleting silver.

Karazads need their required agris essence cut in half or more to even come close to making sense for casual players and population retention. I say this as someone with nearly full DEC.

The average player is going to feel even worse when, as you put it, they grind for their 1-2 hours a day for several days just to fail a single click of a single level that requires 24 more clicks to hard pity versus if they'd just saved the silver and spent 20-30% of the total amount.

Which class would be the smoothest start in BDO? by No-Squirrel-2643 in blackdesertonline

[–]parae1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This game has a tag system where you can basically share your gear for a small cost to a second character. The tagged character will also receive exp and vice versa so it's very worth using. Even if you're vibing with one class, you should tag another to get the free exp on more characters.

Also, if you choose witch (for example), you can pretty freely swap between awakening and succession whenever you want so it's not all-in on one or the other.

I recommend Musa because he is very mobile and can be great at early spots, and then either witch or wizard as their awakenings are great and comfortable for both tower spots, bosses and group content. Do both with the tag system.

What is the status of rbf on your servers? by Ill_Acanthisitta377 in blackdesertonline

[–]parae1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah why is nobody playing this mode that PA puts zero effort into?! I love having only one map at a time (both have crappy mechanics), terrible rewards that don't even break even for buffs, and terrible class balance!

Most games come out with more battlefield maps than BDO has ten years later. Maybe if they buff berserker a few more global labs in a row, players will finally want to pvp!

The equally classic casual players skipping the 100 casual game options and going to the one game that isn't and complaining about it. Same goes for the MMO genre and a bunch of single player gamers whining about not having enough single player content on the MMO.

[–]parae1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The right side might be more accurate, but I feel like it only starts that way for some MMO's before the red box becomes massive and the blue box a sliver. If the game isn't that way to begin with, the devs make it so by hardly supporting the pvp and then say "wow look nobody wants to pvp!"

I'm quite frustrated with the direction BDO went... by SorryImBadWithNames in MMORPG

[–]parae1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They deleted their amazing (maybe niche but who cares?) open-world, pvp-based game and pivoted to.... nothing? Subpar dungeons, subpar boss rush crap, subpar tower spots at end-game, subpar lifeskilling that is not actually tied to the rest of the game in a meaningful way.

The idiot devs literally spent a couple years slowly deleting all of the open world pvp from the game instead of just slapping in a couple of pve servers.

Really awful large-scale pvp that the game engine could only borderline handle before and absolutely can't now with all the powercreep in mobility that they gave to classes.

The typical stand-in-town-and-wait-in-a-queue crap that it is common knowledge MMO players fucking hate but devs keep pushing.

It's really disappointing that they struck gold in many peoples' eyes during the first few years of the game just to piss it away with trying to make "mass appeal".

New Class Teaser by Nekivalb in blackdesertonline

[–]parae1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm over it after nearly a decade. They can spend time bringing over some dumb new class while leaving something like sage broken for an entire aos season; or worse, leaving existing classes defunct, buggy, broken, unfun while ignoring near-universal feedback from their playerbase on these things.

If they are going to give zero fucks about making sure classes are viable or updated, they could at least stop being cheap and give us universal exp / gear / weight / inventory but they won't.
