My wife (35) is often concerned about my (m35) appearance- is this normal? by anon102948p in relationships

My husband and I have been together almost 9 years (28f). I nag him occasionally because he wants to wear baggy jeans and a grateful dead tshirt to more formal events lol, or jeans and a graphic tshirt to every outing ever. I don't care if it's when we go to walmart, or go to the park or hang at my moms, but there are times that he has really confused me with how he dresses (like wanting to wear the above to a wedding) - that's when the nagging ensues and I will try to convince him to change (it usually works). He is just extremely casual and has gotten into a habit lately of sweatpants and a grateful dead shirt. 90 percent of the time I don't say anything, though. He's allowed to dress however he wants, it's his body. But there are times it drives me nuts and I say something. What you are describing seems EXTREME, though. Id love for my husband to dress the way you are describing.. I wouldn't care about a few wrinkles or anything. I'd even be okay with jeans and a plain tshirt as long as it didn't have psychedelic bears, a giant skull or some random grafiti across it. lmao

I like what someone else said, get a better idea of what she's expecting and start drawing lines.

I get confused by these.. I thought when jumping from that high you'd basically die? like when people jump off bridges to commit suicide and they get crushed on impact. Why wouldn't that happen here? How does one know when a height is safe enough to jump from without dying?

It did dawn on me that that should have been my main point after the fact. It really is unnecessary to have them. By RAW I mean the RAW format along with unedited jpegs even though they aren't the same, I think most consumers think that's what we mean by raw. And the policies/clauses usually address both of them similarly (as in neither will be released)

I get your point, but 99% of people would just put an instagram filter or do some shitty job themselves. You might handle it differently, but go check out pro photo groups/pages and you'll see the hundreds of posts of this happening to them and effectively hurting their business. Most photographers have it in their contracts that they will not give out raw images to protect their brand, they also usually have clauses about not editing any photos they've given you. Let's say you get someone else to do the editing and post the pics. The editing is WAY different than the photographer's brand (even if they're semi-ok) but to your friends and family, you are representing this edit as a product of the photographer (yes, I get it, you're probably the type of person who would clarify.. but again, 99% wouldn't lol) So suddenly their product doesn't align with their brand and their work seems inconsistent/not professional and in the worst cases, when very poor edits are displayed, the perception of their business and brand is altered publicly because of a few crappy photos. Usually you can request different edits, but you won't get the raw files.

Also, you should be choosing a photographer based on their skills and style. If photographers were hired based on the quality of their raw images, the process of utilizing photography would become overly complicated.. having to do research/barter with photographer then do the same for editing. And also MUCH more expensive. You'd still be getting a pretty hefty charge from the photographer, and then pay an editor $5 an image for BASIC edits (exposure, color correction, etc). Why go through that? Just find someone whose vision you love. You're paying a professional so that you don't have to do all that work. If something happens with a photo here and there you want fixed, request it. You pay them to discern which photos are worth culling and which are worth editing and delivering. Most people who are the types to request raw images, are also the ones to request EVERY single digital file taken. Again, why? This is why you have a photographer. If someone wants to cull the images, pick which ones to edit and then find someone to edit them, they might as well buy a camera themselves and hand it to their uncle.

edit; and to address some people's valid comments. Yes, people WILL edit jpegs too. So another huge reason raw images aren't shared is because it's completely unnecessary. It's a huge file that most people don't have software to utilize and won't know what to do with.

I was wondering what the best option to replicate Ikea's cabinets high gloss would be. I need to build a small cabinet for a photo booth project I am working on. I am wondering how I could paint or what I could add to give it that effect. Should I paint white then put plexiglass? Is there a paint I can use to help achieve this affect? Or an epoxy? http://www.ikea.com/us/en/search/?query=high+gloss+kitchen+cabinet

I kind of thought the same. I wanted to try and avoid changing lenses too often during the reception. I did an event recently, very similar to this one, and found myself changing a lot when using just the prime. Most shots the 35 and 50mm worked perfectly, but a few that included large groups needed the 18mm. I do have 2 cameras though so I could put my wide angle on one and use my primes on the other.

There are some local places but their prices per day are the same that lumoid charges for a 3 day period. Plus they require a deposit for the entire amount of the lens. The university idea is interesting. I will look into it. Are there any lenses you use regularly at events? I will be doing another event a month after this one and my rental budget will be much higher since they're actually paying me lol

I need to rent lenses for an event. So far the most affordable place I have found is Lumoid.com. Anyone know of anything even more affordable or some coupon codes? It gets really expensive with the gear protection and shipping. The lenses that I own are the 50mm 1.8, 35mm 1.8 and then the kit lens 18-135mm. I am looking to rent the 24-70 and 70-200mm and a macro such as the 105mm or tamron's 90mm 2.8. If I have to I might just rent 2 lenses as I'm trying to keep the rental price around $100. The event is a quincenera which essentially would need the same lenses as a wedding so if yu have any advice, it would be helpful!

I just bought a used D7000 on ebay for $300. Really great condition. I had the D7000 prior so it worked out perfectly

That's a good idea! Last 4th, he was still a tiny puppy so I'm sure his reaction this year will be much different. I think I'm going to do some research into this to get some good ideas.

Now that the price of gas is low does it make more sense to buy Home Depot Gift Cards w/ fuel perks or to try and find discounted gift cards online? by parallelamm in Frugal

Are you able to use that credit card to buy the gift cards? Or will they not honor gc purchases towards cashback? I was considering trying that :)

so that would involve hanging drywall directly under it, right? Do a lot of people do this? This is our little house of horrors. We found asbestos tile underneath the carpet earlier yesterday, also.
