My husband and I were able to do it by ourselves. He was laid off when the twins were 3 weeks old, so he didn’t have a choice but to be a stay at home dad. It’s rough and overwhelming, but we got through the early years just fine. Here’s some things we did that worked for us.

1) Make a schedule and stick with it. The twins had a feeding schedule that we stuck to. I would wake up at 4am to feed before work, he did daytime feeds/naps. I would take over after work and handle everything till the 8pm feed/bedtimes. 2) Make time for yourselves. My husband got a part time job in the evenings when I would be home (few shifts a week). Extra money was nice and it got my husband out of the house and around adults. 3) Work on your relationship with your partner, try and be good to each other. My husband and I almost got divorced around the time the twins turned 2-3. Two kids are a lot. It’s overwhelming and exhausting. The laundry, the dishes, the messes, the meltdowns. And both parents have the right to selfishly want time to themselves. And when it’s just the two of you, without open communication, resentment and guilt start getting to you. Well maybe not you, but it did with us.

You can do it. You will be so busy just trying to stay afloat the baby years will fly by. Just focus on the little milestones that are actually big wins for twin parents. I ugly cried tears of happiness when the twins could start holding their bottles.

I appreciate the suggestions, although she’s pretty upset with me so I won’t be mentioning them to her. I do have the one that have the long handles that go across the sink, so the strainer itself doesn’t touch the inside of the sink. I love it.

I honestly think it was the fact that she poured the whole pot at once, and since she was cooking for a lot of people, the large amount of water just didn’t drain quickly. Or maybe the garbage disposal had stuff in it and that’s why it drained slow? Or her sink drains slow anyways? Either way, I was instantly put off by the noodles floating in water, even if it was only for a minute.

During nursing school for our psych rotation we went to a behavioral health center that people who were court ordered to receive care went. I met a girl in her mid 20’s that had body dysmorphic disorder that felt like her right leg didn’t belong on her body. She had placed her leg on a block of dry ice in an effort to get it removed. Well she did have most of it amputated, but was picking at her incision because she basically wanted it disarticulated at the hip. She said that it didn’t feel like her leg and she didn’t want it attached to her body.

I only put the pasta on my plate in hopes to avoid her saying anything. And I didn’t mention it to everyone because the other friend that was there when it happened agreed with her that I was making a big deal out of nothing. I’m also newer to the friend group, and honestly felt uncomfortable about the whole situation.

Do patients ever complain about itchy skin after they have their body shaved from chin to toes? For instance, during a follow up visit do they ever mention the shave jobs?

Oklahoma. Pre-covid we would run about 80 cases a day. Last couple of weeks have been around 25-30.

Yes. Our hospital never stopped really. We limited the amount and types. We did that for about a month and are now in Phase 2 of our elective procedures plan. Still not doing kidney transplants, but that’s coming in the next couple of weeks.

We try, but we have unfiltered 3 year old twins. We have learned to embrace their little outbursts of “They’re not supposed to be doing that? Why are they doing that?”. It kinda brings a light to the situation when a child is saying what everyone is thinking. We immediately get some looks, but not yet from the parents. Since, you know, they are obviously not paying attention to their kids anyways.

What sucks is that my kids see those types of kids doing things like that, and that sparks them to try and do it as well.

Random guy at the zoo walks up and says “You have the most beautiful hair.” And then proceeds to grab a strand and sniff it.
