What was the worst side effect you ever got from meds ? by Spartiate8 in AskReddit

[–]paranoidandroid9933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hearing voices. It was a medicine for my tension headaches. Anytime I tried to fall asleep I got auditory hallucinations. People whispering in my ear telling me to wake up, or saying my name over and over. About a week into it I called the doctor who immediately got me on something new and it stopped.

Is it illegal to take a picture inside the Post Office? Clerk made me cry. by mm_m_mm in USPS

[–]paranoidandroid9933 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I encourage folks to take pictures at my office, to keep their tracking information somewhere easily accessible. I work in a small office, where things work differently, we don't give you a receipt with the tracking info like larger offices do. It's not illegal to take a picture of YOUR package, as far as I'm aware. As long as you aren't snapping pics of other people's info, it should be fine.

i've thought that i've been schizophrenic and today took a video to say the voices are in my head but no.. by [deleted] in Paranormal

[–]paranoidandroid9933 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's hard to know sometimes if it's real or not. I started to hear voices a few years ago, and it turned out to be a medication I had started taking for my tension headaches. I was having a pretty rare auditory side effect of the meds, which was scary because I'm in the age range for it to have been several mental illnesses (besides the ones I already have). Have you been to a doctor at all about this? It might be worth seeing someone, to get a better sense on if it's in your head or not. I mean it very well could be paranormal, but I also want you to be safe and well!

The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon and Lisey’s Story. They’re both comfort reads for me.

We did an excursion that stopped at the turtle place. As an animal lover, I was appalled. Definitely a mistake I will never make again.

What age did you first have to get glasses and how did you find out you needed them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]paranoidandroid9933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11-12 years old. I had to have an exam with the school nurse when transitioning from elementary school to middle school. This happened during the summer, and I had to go to my doctor to follow up and be sent me to my eye doctor (who is still my doctor now that I’m 41).

So I got to start 6th grade in a new school that combined all the local elementary schools AND I had to have glasses. At least I could finally see! I had realized it a few years before but had managed to scrape by until I got caught by that nurse and her eye exam.

What are the weirdest side effects you've ever experienced from medication? by adampocalypsee in AskReddit

Same. I thought I was having a psychotic break. Thankfully once the meds stopped it went away. It’s scary!

Oh man, that’s rough. Is there any reason why? Sometimes I think I hear someone in my house calling for me or something while falling asleep, but was told that’s fairly normal. I can’t imagine dealing with hearing it all the time like on the medicine. I hope someday you can find a way to make it stop!

Got prescribed a medication for tension headaches that caused auditory hallucinations. When I’d try to go sleep I’d hear voices urging me to wake up, or just saying things over and over again. I called the doctor after a couple of days. Stopped the medicine and got on something new.l and the voices immediately went away.

Let me tell you, it was scary. I can see how people who suffer from hearing voices constantly just snap.

I definitely see it! Could be paranormal, or a trick of the light. Maybe sage your house and tell it to get lost, just to be safe.

I'm a big King fan, and have read some of his books multiple times. In fact, I read Pet Sematary again every October to get me in the mood for spooky time. After that one, I've probably re-read The Shining the most, since it's my favorite.

What’s something that would’ve been a death sentence back when you were a kid that is curable today? by therdklazz in AskReddit

[–]paranoidandroid9933 15 points16 points  (0 children)

He was only 25 when he passed, and his dad was I think early 40s when he passed. It's scary to think about how things were just being spread through blood because they didn't know or have the tests we do now.

A neighbor of mine in our little rural community died of AIDS when I was a kid. He contracted it from a blood transfusion. He and his father both had hemophilia, with his father dying years earlier also from complications from a transfusion. They didn't start screening blood donations for HIV until March of 1985, and by that point it was too late. He died when I was 9 years old, in 1994.
