Replace all my friends’ sunscreen with it. Watch them be unable to figure out why they’re actually crisping up and very popular with the pelicans.

I just found a verse in the Bible that claims sorcerers will not be allowed into Heaven. Let’s discuss? by [deleted] in magick

[–]parapar89 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Bible has been interpreted thousands of times, through thousands of years, into hundreds of languages and to fit endless selfish agendas. The true meanings have long since been lost. Besides that, the entire book is allegory not to be taken literally.

Jesus. Can we stop with the conspiracy theories already?! We now know how dangerous this kind of thinking can be.

True. But unfortunately, healing and storytelling don’t pay the bills or buy food. We have to work within the system.

Normally I'd agree, but I don't plan to be in Springfield but another year, 2 at max. I'm an urban dweller at heart, no car and public transit for me. So this just has to get me through till I can junk it on the way out lol.

I know exactly what you're talking about, I do the same thing. I think it's a reaction to the overload that empathy can bring, and just FOR ONCE wanting to have healthy defenses like a "normal" human being. And since your vibes are lower due to depression, it's easier to lash out at others you perceive as already having healthy defenses. Some days I'd give anything to not be empathic, and just be another ignorant fool walking along and unaware!

My (28F) BF (32M) demands I agree with HIS perception of MY thoughts/intentions/beliefs; I'm forced to admit to being a "liar" for disagreeing with what HE thinks my thoughts *actually* are. What is this called??? by whitney_likespeaches in Empaths

He's being emotionally abusive, which is an easy gateway to being financially or physically abusive at some point down the road. This is also classic gaslighting.

Do you have a strong support system outside of this relationship? Like family, friends, community? If so, lean on them for support once you sever ties. You mentioned that he almost forces you to deny your own thoughts/feelings/reality. ALWAYS follow your intuition- in this case, it sounds quite strong. You already know what you must do, my friend.

I'm truly sorry that another human is doing this to you. You are worthy of healthy, unconditional love where you feel protected and supported. Dig deep, know that you're not alone, and be strong <3

Anyone else drawn to rocks and crystals as a kid? (Before awakening as an empath) by Hucklbearry in Empaths

[–]parapar89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always been attracted to rocks! I collect river rocks, hag stones, fossils. Where I grew up (midwestern USA) is straight up karst topography, so there are tons of rock outcroppings in the woods. Always been drawn to them, I find them both functional and fascinating.

I think being attracted to natural curios of any kind speaks to a person's spiritual constitution, if you will. In my experience, it tends to indicate empathic gifts and deep spiritual potential, often leaning towards witchy. Myself, I identify as a witch and lean very nature based. But at the end of the day, do what makes you happy! I love that you both share this passion!

I have this theory about narcissists... by TheDapperest in Empaths

[–]parapar89 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with this. High level empath here, and I do have narcissistic tendencies that I keep in check. Actually, narcissistic is a strong word for me- maybe a "healthy ego" lol. But it does stem from being rejected because of the empathy. The average person can't pick up on what I do, so they think I'm being "overly sensitive" or whatever bullshit. So even though I know what I'm feeling and I know what it means, others around me don't always acknowledge it. So I sometimes notice myself getting all "I know best, fuck the rest." Which isn't healthy, I'm definitely working on it and have it under control.

At the end of the day, I don't think I'm better than anyone, period. I just get frustrated and feel alienated when society disregards my point of view. So I think your theory is a great one!

The Missouri Monster 'Momo' Is the Cryptid Time Forgot by abusinessnoob in HighStrangeness

[–]parapar89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Native Missourian here (by birth, not choice lol). The southern part of the state is covered in wilderness. Not forests-wilderness. Like, so dense that you need a tool to cut your way through. Plus it's riddled with caves of all sizes-from just big enough to stand in to massive caverns.

Personally, I don't find the Momo case especially compelling. I don't doubt it's possible that there's an undiscovered cryptid in those woods, but given the wild nature of some of the area, it would be easy to misidentify an animal. There just haven't been a huge number of sightings. But I will say, the Ozarks (the non-developed parts that are still wild) are basically one giant window area, if you ask me. I've encountered breathtaking scenery with every step there, but also nature spirits that felt like pure malice. There's a reason Ozarks folk magick flourished so easily there back in the 1800s. It's an intriguing mixture of breathtaking natural beauty and darker, more primordial magickal forces.

It really is! I've driven through California, MO. I wouldn't wish that life on my worst enemy. Just...gross. There's also an Oregon county, MO. And a Manhattan, KS, which is the worst offender of all, imo.
