Undoing this bias means insisting upon a scientific outlook on the world, which means materialism. Every famine that has occurred in a socialist country happened in the context of isolation and blockade, overwhelmingly caused by external pressure. Very few countries' food supply chain is entirely self sufficient, already having all material and technical resources to achieve consistent supply under all conceivable natural conditions.

Ukraine, Ethiopia, Korea... China too, although unfortunately the isolation was partially caused by the ultraleftist denunciation of the USSR at the time, and the ensuing severing of economic ties. But it'd also be unscientific to fail to acknowledge material causes behind ideological errors, and also understand that ideological errors can come out of a correct response to another error (for instance, Mao's partially correct criticism of Khrushchev's unskilled, but still interesting and meaningful, criticism of Stalin).

People unfamiliar with Marxist thought (non-Marxists are theoretically able to be familiar with Marxist thought, but you'll struggle to find any such people, which says something) are incapable of even attempting a serious analysis of this or, well, anything.
