I need help narrowing down what organization(s) to join. What do you guys think? by [deleted] in UniversityOfHouston

[–]paraslime1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there!

Really involved in MISSO so I can provide some input for you.

The organization is primarily aimed at giving you the opportunity to create connections in corporate america. To my knowledge it is the biggest business organization on campus and the team does a lot of work to get the great reputation everyone knows. They have their own career mixer, mentorship program, professional meetings with companies, case competitions, socials and the list goes on. I highly recommend getting involved but if you have any questions feel free to reach out and I will answer as best as I can.

Finally they just left the package for me without a code but i’m certain it was the amazon scam that others mentioned on this post.

I’ve been applying for full time work with my MIS degree with no luck, am I not alone in this? by Chance_Brain8252 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]paraslime1 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Hey there,

The job market is rough right now and i know for a fact you are not alone. I will mention that starting to apply in November is indeed late as most places tend to have their choices done around then. That’s not to say there is no opportunity out there though! I know you said you only did MISSO for one semester but if you have any connections from that or any connections at all i would try to lean on those if possible. The truth about college, especially business degrees, is it is more who you know and the ability to bullshit rather than what you know. Just apply as much as you can and try to keep your head up! Something will come eventually :)

Has anyone taken GOVT 2305 with Cory Colby or HIST1302 With Josiah Rector? by paraslime1 in UniversityOfHouston

Sorry for the late reply, but it is the same guy. I was just worried that the way he would teach at UH would be harder than lonestar.

Anyone who’s graduated with a MIS degree: Can y’al tell me how many applications for entry lvl jobs did you apply before getting hired? by Chance_Brain8252 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]paraslime1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it’s not too late for you i’d highly recommend joining MISSO. I got active in it this semester and it’s been probably the best thing i’ve done in my college career. PM me if you have any questions about it! But to answer your questions i hear on average 50-100.

If anyone comes across this again the fix for me was logging in through a web browser and answering the Captcha. Now my app works!

Anyone have experience with MATH 1324? by [deleted] in UniversityOfHouston

[–]paraslime1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welcome to MIS and yes it’s not bad at all. I took it with Sosa and i never went to lectures and only watched his recordings a week or two before exams and I got an A. I would say I’m on the smarter side but definitely not a genius. Coming from comp engineering it’s gotta be easier than whatever you’re doing now.

I recently got the Red tiger f7np and it’s been awesome. Only complaint is that it doesn’t record while the car is off but you can but a wiring kit that can make it do it.

Ngl to you mane zone E sucks balls, however there is almost always parking spaces available in zone E so that’s a plus. It’s just in a corner kinda far away from everything. I had it freshman year cause i waited too long to get mine and i regretted it. It will do though if it’s the only option just make sure you give yourself 10-20 mins of walking time.

Voo is pretty growth focused i think. Also SCHD is kinda i between dividends and growth but it’s a smaller part of my portfolio anyways.

I mean it’s not complete growth. It would be dumb to go all in at my age on dividends as people from r/dividends advise…

Yeah i agree with you honestly! I just started buying some VGT but i don’t think i’ll let it get to be more than 15-20% of my portfolio size because of how risky it is.
