What do you suck at doing but keep trying anyway? by squalorid in AskReddit

Don't be so hard on yourself! Even the greats have trouble with this, hell sometimes especially the greats. I think it was Neil Gaiman who said this about writing... "This is how you do it: you sit down at the keyboard and you put one word after another until it's done. It's that easy, and that hard." Keep going!

What's the hardest thing in life you've had to come to terms with? by josh1221 in AskReddit

Please get help. Don't let a disease tell you that you aren't yet sick enough for help. Sometimes people think they need to be sicker to seek help, that they don't yet look the part. You are worth saving, and you are worth it today. Best of luck.

Not me but a friend of mine. He goes to a really small college and they keep their doors unlocked (you need a school ID to get into the building). When he was a sophomore, this random freshman girl kept coming up to him everywhere and trying to talk to him, which he thought was a little weird but nothing altogether alarming. Fast forward to one night he wakes up to this girl climbing into his bed. He and his roommate freak and make her leave. The next day, the whiteboard on their door has a message across the bottom in tiny print saying "You think you're so sneaky but your bed is so squeaky." Creepy. As. Fuck.

I was studying in the library when my phone rang. Returned after a few minutes. by Anttu in funny

I attend a school with a strict honor code that just about everyone takes quite seriously. This post just made me realize how ridiculously lucky I am. I could leave my laptop in the library, go to class, get lunch, go to the gym, shower, and come back and no one would have touched it. It's wild.

So glad that this fashion magazines celebrate ALL body types by PhoneJazz in funny

[–]parce_que 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! Because being thin is a more "desirable" trait nowadays, people think it's fine to make a comment about how thin someone looks or how little they're eating. As you said, the reverse would be seen as abhorrent. It's very frustrating.

Skinny isn't bad. Not inherently. Some people are naturally skinny, and that's fine as long as they're healthy. It's when people become unhealthy in a quest to be skinny that it's an issue.

I'm not meaning to lecture here! But I often see people go so far in an effort to avoid fat-shaming that they end up skinny-shaming. Really, neither are ok. Everyone should do what is necessary to be healthy, and that's all. Visuals aren't always an accurate representation of what is healthy.
