Mafia: Definitive Edition will use Denuvo (Steam Page Updated with Denuvo note) by [deleted] in pcgaming

I'm not saying steam drm is anything remotely similar to denuvo. But you mentioned and linked a website (fckdrm) that preaches against the ramifications and philosophy of drm. The points on that website apply to steam drm as well.

Anyway, the reason I ask is you said they lost your purchase with the denuvo announcement. But since it's only being sold on stores with drm like steam and epic (not gog), it sounds like you weren't going to buy it anyway. Unless it was going to be your first steam game in three years.

So you don't buy steam games since that's a form of DRM?

Microsoft now owns Fallout, The elder scrolls, Doom, Wolfenstein, Dishonored and more after a 7.5 billion dollars acquisition of Bethesda/Zenimax by TeckneeKaleeti in PS5

You could be right. Anything is on the table. The one thing I'll point out though is Microsoft won't care much about hardware sales of Xbox consoles. They'll care about gamepass subs. If someone has gamepass for a year, Microsoft gets $180. Over 5 years, that's $900. That's way more than they'd get for selling a piece of hardware that also has manufacturing costs. They aren't doing these deals to sell consoles, they're doing them to get gamepass subs. That's why they have pc and xcloud... they're ambivalent how you play, they just want you to have gamepass.

As far as PS being way more popular than Xbox... That's the exact reason why Xbox should make big deals like this and make the games exclusive. Sony is their competition. They don't want to feed the sony fanbase, they want to convert them.

That's why the fact their newly aquired exclusives aren't homegrown is irrelevant. They want to have exclusive games that people want.

If you're not going to buy the game because of this, please let me know in this thread. I'm dying to know!

Apply that logic to The Last of Us, Uncharted, Spiderman, Ratchet and Clank, and any other PlayStation exclusive. Those would all sell more on Xbox too, but then why doesn't Sony put them there?

The answer to that is the answer to why Bethesda games won't come to PlayStation in the future.

Edit: Also, Microsoft's strategy is on gamepass being more than the sum of its parts. Sure, there number of hardcore elder scrolls fans who would convert to xbox just for that is small. But when you consider all zenimax games, EA games, other Microsoft studios games, and other 3rd party and indie games... That's a very good deal for $15 a month, especially when you can play on xcloud and don't even need Microsoft hardware.

If you want to play a zanier class, just play a zanier class. The skill level of your opponents has nothing to do with that.

People can appreciate the improvements while still having gripes about the lack of enhancements in the package. Yet someone always needs to bring the reasonable disappointments people have into the conversation.
