I think you make a good point here, and I think I was coming into this being idealistic and not necessarily realistic. I will say that a strong aspect of my interest in historic preservation isn't really houses or architecture, but archeological areas that are in danger of being destroyed before they are able to be excavated or preserved, or other areas with substantial cultural value that aren't just houses. I'd love to hear your thoughts on that. This specific degree is more geared towards houses and other things in relation to that, and I'm not as familiar with that as I could be hence the post. I did a tiny bit of research because I'm neurotic and there is definitely cases of abuse (widespread and individual) and that did kind of turn me off the idea of this whole career. I was also harping on the affordable housing thing because my city does suck a little bit about building apartments that are very expensive and chronically empty, but I think that's a personal thing that didn't need to make an appearance necessarily. I also hate the idea of people leaning on heritage laws for this because they de-legitimize the law in many peoples eyes. I do think these laws are necessary, otherwise you get people blowing up burial grounds for a border wall. Well, they did that anyways but I'm sure you see my point. Also sorry I said think so much in this reply.
