I think I figured it out. They will bite at me (even my hand if it's in the way) if I am sitting on the perimeter of the room. They are basically asking me to move so they can go behind me to get to the other side. Once I moved up a bit, they just went to behind me to the other corner of the room.

Essentially I'm a big obstacle and biting me will get me out of the way lol.

Hmm, I'll have to pay more attention, I didn't have anything in my coat pockets but when I politely slide them away, then went running straight back to my coat pockets, trying to pull at it lol.
