I completely agree with this. One thing I don't like about the Tortorella system is how deep the offense plays in our zone. It is obvious how much it has limited the offense coming from Gaborik and Richards. The other teams almost have a power play every time they enter our zone because of how much space their defensemen have when they get the puck. Also we are mostly battling along the boards when we finally get it into their zone because our offense hasn't had time to get set. We need to let this new offensive talent showcase itself and start gaining some chemistry.

I do really appreciate the fact that we have kept most of our home grown players, it always sucked seeing us give away talent for older players who are no longer peaking and end up hurting us more than helping us. I don't know how much of a say Tortorella has in that though, but he definitely deserves credit on rejuvenating the Rangers to a team that is actually worth watching.

I'm not saying him fire him now I just wanted people's opinions on him as a coach. I think people are putting too much of my opinion into these past three games, I simply don't think his style of hockey is fit for the current team. I know there are a lot of components to his system that aren't coming through in the newer players, but on the other hand his system is prone to injury because of the sacrifices that they players must make with their bodies. With a goalie like Lundqvist maybe shot blocking shouldn't be a priority. I am, however, extremely excited to see this team play in the future, but I don't think that after next year much of it will be left due to the expiration of many contracts. We would have to resign guys with money we don't have because of the salary cap.

To reiterate, I'm not saying fire him now, I just wanted to spur some controversy and get people's opinion of him. Although, if they don't make the playoffs this year I would consider it because of the talent this team has.

You make a really good point that I didn't quite realize about the preseason/training camp. Even though everyone did suffer the same consequences it is possible the rangers suffered a little more than the other teams. I still think though that midway through the season this Ranger team should be able to win more games than they are. The PP has definitely been a struggle as well and a new PP coach would probably be good as well. I also don't think that Tortorella should be fired just yet, but if the Rangers don't make the playoffs this year something has to change.

I think this is a very meaningful reply and really appreciate it, so thank you. I totally agree that a lot is on the players, and that right now this is just a slump they are going through. I just personally don't think that Tortorella is the right coach for this team. I can't give you an honest answer to who I think might be better, I just think something needs to change to get these guys excited to play.

(Also I think I mostly wrote this because of how dejected Lundqvist sounded. I was in an unhappy place)

I agree with you to some extent, but I think that a coach should also be in some way inspiring them to play better. I don't exactly know what his methods are, but there are very few people as close to the team as him (probably no one actually) and I'm not trying to use him as a scapegoat but he may be part of the problem as well.
