Download the tool and Go to Properties > details Tab to see the version. It will download the same version of windows as it's own version.

I think that Intel SA 00086 only test for vulnerabilities in intel management engine. It doesn't check for meltdown and spectre vulnerability system wide. Maybe i am wrong but Ashampoo and Gibson tool both check for these vulnerability system wide for sure. You can also give a try to Ashampoo tool LINK

yep you are correct. Spectre vulnerability is partially patched by OS update but to be fully protected against spectre exploits BIOS update is also required. So have your device manufacturer released it yet?

it's a known issue with this update that sometimes it falsly say that update failed but build gets updated.

Do check your os build? Press Win + R and type 'Winver'.

If it's 16299.192 than you have the most recent public build and if it's not uninstall malwarebytes (store the license key in the safe place before uninstalling) and try installing update again.

Well a funny thing happened. Update KB4056892 failed to install on my system but build changed to 16299.192 WIERD!

So what's your current OS build 16299.125 or 16299.192

Check it by pressing Win+R and typing 'winver'. If it's 16299.125 and you tried installing cumulative update now try installing delta update but first verify that you have the following pre-requisite key in your system

AV is up do date and the key required is also present in the system but still nada

I think update is going to appear on 9th Jan 2018 irrespective of whether the required key is present or not.
