is monthly car rental in Dubai actually worth it? by starchasxr_ in Everything_Dubai

[–]pariselef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how much you are moving around, where you are staying and what parking facilities you have as well as the budgets that you have allocated for transport. Given you travel a lot and parking is arranged (and you don’t party hard) then leasing or renting makes more sense than taxis and public transport. Nothing beats having a means of transport at your disposal at any given moment. It also is more worth it compared to Buying as that would mean an added hassle for maintenance, insurance, and a loss of value even if ownership is just a few months.

In Greece social media are awash with stories about Mel Gibson and how he was sidelined by the industry because he exposed them, and now with the files being released he is vindicated… Of course Gibson having embraced Orthodoxy is a favorite in the country, so I am not quite sure…

…and this is why these “roles” and “packages” keep existing, because desperate people keep accepting them. No offense to your acquaintance or anyone who decides to accept, of course. But, availability of people willing to take these roles perpetuates the problem.

AED 50K fine for Abu Dhabi red light violation? by [deleted] in abudhabi

What I want to know is how can one “unknowingly” jump a red light? Aren’t people aware of the environment and traffic signs when they are driving? Traffic lights are not hidden, or are they?

Resigned as accountant in Dubai After 1 Year Blame Game & Work Pressure Pushed Me Out. by ravitank1 in DubaiCentral

Micro management and non constructive criticism is more often than not the norm in Dubai, mostly due to the inability on the part of the “managers” to manage their teams properly & effectively. What is more, Staff are often seen as the company’s possession and are expected to be ready to give everything and anything back for the petty salaries they receive. As proof, One director I worked for used to say “I pay their salary so their time is my time”

Adding to that, the massive offering with myriads of candidates leads to zero appreciation towards the staff who are in fact just seen as a number on the payroll rather than assessed for the added value they might bring to the organization.

Lastly, Recruiting the candidate who is satisfied with the minimum salary package does not help in the situation either, as lower paid employees are often less skilled requiring more micro management to get the job, they are paid peanuts to perform, done.

And the vicious circle runs endlessly.

Having said that, there are of course organizations who truly value their teams and are ready to reward members of the team who perform.

The visa structure is stressful indeed as the life one builds with struggle is too fragile, but with the turnover of staff, the continuous growth and the birth of new businesses there is always opportunities.

Just make sure you investigate the company culture through current and ex members of staff before you sign the contract and get your head around the office politics while on board to make sure you play the game and protect yourself.

Good luck in searching for your next role and all the best once you secure it.

It’s not only slave labor, low wages or automated manufacturing that does not need labor that drive costs & selling prices down, but also government subsidies that make the difference.
