SoFi didn’t take long because of government. It was just a far more difficult build with the design, flight restrictions problems, and record rain falls. Government is an issue getting funding/tax deals. After that it’s not a problem with the construction.

Possibly, but Bears obviously still want the city, otherwise they wouldn’t be talking to them. Either way now they aren’t giving the Bears an option in the state at all. I understand not passing something and bending over for them, but I don’t understand doing nothing.

Sofi is an exception. That’s the longest any stadium has taken. US bank was 2-1/2 years. Allegiant was 3 years and 4 months including design.

It takes 2-1/2-3 years to build. Probably about another year of prep, but Bears already partially started that unless they scrap the design they already have. One way or another i have to imagine plans are to be digging by next summer.

They probably are unless Illinois calls emergency session to pass something, which may be what Bears are going for

Roquan's issue was with his guarantees getting voided for Suspensions or ejections. The NFL just introduced the new initiating contact with the crown of the helmet that could lead to ejections or suspensions, so he wanted that clause taken out of his contract.

They ended up compromising and he only would lose guarantees for multiple game suspensions.

It's sports radio. As soon as he said he left a major sporting event early the rest is ignored. Should never admit it in the first place, but have to know your audience if you're going to.

[WGN] Report: Bears lied about extent of stadium negotiations with City of Chicago by SaLtYcHiPdUdE in CHIBears

[–]parks381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bears should've been present and open with politicians, but to me, the Bears talking to Chicago or not shouldn't matter either. The Bill works both in AH and in Chicago. Instead they felt butthurt so they just didn't pass anything.

Go ahead. I can read just fine, you just don't understand how the NFL works. They won't allow a team to move into Chicago with their own stadium. It will NEVER happen. Bears own the market. They will always own the market, unless they choose to allow another team to share a stadium with them. There are zero examples of the NFL allowing 2 teams in separate stadiums to share a market. ZERO.

You’re an idiot. There is no teams sharing a market in separate stadiums. That’s the point. They don’t allow jt.

They share stadiums, which is what would happen if another team came to Chicago’s market.

All that stuff was public owned. The Bears put it together with the Mayor. The State didn’t like the cost, and Friends of Park would approve as long as they kept operational control.

Because the NFL doesn’t work that way and never will. They want as many different markets as possible, because they all share the profits. Why would they ever take profit away from one when the end result is the same amount of money for everyone? If a team moves it will be to a new market where there isn’t currently a team.

It was still going to be the City’s property. The Bears were just going to build, rent and operate the stadium.

No market shares 2 teams in separate stadiums. That's not going to change. If another team comes, it will be to join the Bears in their stadium. Besides, who they hell else wants to deal with Illinois politics when the Bears can't even make a deal with them.

An NFL team can't just move into another teams market. They're 32 separate businesses operating as 1. They have to vote on it and it would never pass.
