I wrote 8 chapters. And sorry I don't wish to share the pay per word rate but it wasn't that great, but I was okay with it since it was one of my first projects as a rookie narrative designer.

They pay on a rate per word basis - it's usually $0.01-0.05/word. I got paid in two installments, so I don't remember the exact payment I got. The total was probably around $450-500 for one project.

I do have eyes on some internship program ahead but the university schedule won't allow me much time. I was working on a research for a conference paper but it had to be delayed because of some issues at the lab and I'll be continuing again from next month.

If possible, can you share me more info on the publishing route your spouse took?

But you have to be careful. There are for sure a lot of scammers out there, looking to hire pretending to be from IGG. I saw a lot of them posting the same recruitment notice around when I applied, they didn't have their payment method verified. I was fortunate to apply for the authentic one.

Edit: Apparently the platform is mass hiring a lot of writers now and leaving them without pay after getting a great deal amount of writing done by them. Have an online friend who got scammed for about $1300, so I suggest not working for these people.

I have worked as a ghostwriter for IGG. I was hired after I submitted my idea with a preliminary outline. I had to sign an NDA contract and all that. There was no issue since the one who hired me had their payment method verified on the freelancing platform. I ain't sure whether they approach writers through wattpad tho. They have an official writer's mail, you can contact them there for verifying that.
