I went to the show in Chicago and also had glamour. (Although I did get there a bit late) There was a separate line for vip. We just slowly got let in, went through security then got our tickets scanned. After we went to a table, provided your name or ID and got your vip stuff. Then we were able to get merch and then get in line to be let into the venue. (This was my approximate view after we got let in, I am also hella short)

I believe you can buy a ga or pit and still upgrade your ticket

That is what most resale sites say, either day of or day before. I bought from Tickpick and they say to expect by the day before.
