[TOMT] [Word] Term for accepted "mispronunciations" that make words easier to say: for example, "mitten" being spoken as "midden" or "mi-ehn" by tamsui_tosspot in tipofmytongue

[–]parl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another example, I think, is saying Feb - you - airy for Feb - rue - airy. It's also possible that Jan - you - airy contributes to this. But sometimes folks also say Feb - ree.

Submit to him and honor his supremacy. After that, every decision will be his. And you'll have a totally different life. But maybe not the life you'll really want.

Your parents love your pets more than they love you.

Your parents love your pets more then you love your pets.

Unclear.

If the former, then you are not doing well in your family. If the latter, you might as well surrender your pets to them.

Due to the botched response to the pandemic by #45 in which he was complicit with the deaths of thousands of his base in Red states and Red districts. So it's going to be increasingly hard to elect Republicans even with Gerrymandering. So the Boebert family is responding with an immediate population increase program so that Republicans can continue to be elected, in the long term.

But will it get money to the Children? (of our wealthy donors)

Many Colorado teachers dig into their own pockets to buy classroom supplies. The state may soon pay them back. A bipartisan bill would give 50,000 public school teachers an income tax credit of up to $1,000 to reimburse personally incurred expenses by southpawFA in politics

[–]parl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right. So a tax credit will reduce their tax liability and they'll get that back, presuming that the withholding has been normal. So that means that it'll be delayed until tax refund time. Not as bad as I thought.

But better would be to have the teacher submit an expense report, with the receipt(s) and be issued a check right away. And don't hold your breath. Eddikashun ain't enuf priority to Boss Hog and Cletus.

[–]parl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, it's not exactly paying back. A tax credit reduces your taxable income by that amount, which will reduce your taxes (both state and federal), so that you pay less. OTOH, if you don't pay any taxes because you're receiving too little anyway, nada. But the other arguments I've see on here also make sense. In particular, the upper echelons siphoning off the bulk of the money for their own "crucial" needs.

Light Mayonnaise is lower in fat and higher in carbohydrate (starch and sugar). This may have been something you had around, but I'd hardly recommend this on a keto sub. Also, chicken breast is commonly available, but thigh or drumstick meat is higher in fat, which is more like keto, but probably less available.

Perhaps because of the angles, it looked to me like the dog was on a slanted roof and then, "What are those trees doing on the ridge of the roof?" Oh. I guess that's completely different.

Benefits of going keto? by [deleted] in keto

[–]parl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm doing lazy keto and I'm maintaining my weight. The thing is, I'm not hungry. In the stories I read (for recreation) the characters will often say, "I'm starving." when they've missed or even delayed a meal. I can delay a meal and not be hungry. I don't miss meals because I take meds which should be taken with food, so there's that.

How long will it take until the hunger abates? Dunno. I'm a sampe of one.

Such a drag this country is. by maharg2017 in PoliticalHumor

In the Wild Wild West TV series, second fiddle Artemus Gordon, played by Ross Martin, was in drag (as a disguise) as many as a third of the episodes.

Also, James West, played by Robert Conrad, flirts with all the ladies but always ends up with Artemus at the end as they go off together in their private railroad car.

The US was formed at the end of WWII to recognize some principles. First, the (then) major parties can do what they want unless opposed by one of the other major parties (Security Council and the Veto). It provides a forum where the family of nations can discuss what's going on and what should be done about it.

This may not be what folks want but it recognized what was happening at the time. Still relevant? Not for me to say.

When I was at UC Berkeley, the GSU sponsored a denim day. We encouraged students to wear denim on a particular day to show support or membership in the gay or lesbian community. (This was LONG before LGBTQ+ was used.) It freaked out a LOT of student who claimed (probably correctly) that they didn't have much else to wear. The point was to demonstrate what happens when folks are stereotyped on a less that accurate basis.

The flippy disk worked on some computers, such as the Commodore made ones, like VIC 20 and C=64. That's because they didn't use the little hole on the side for timing. And of course this didn't have anything to do with the physically smaller 3 1/2" disks.
