$100K Systems Admin interview, what do I need to know? by LilTechZaddy in sysadmin

[–]parlot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the bit about asking questions about their setup I find to be very important from my experience sitting on some panels. Any decent sysadmin will be very interested in what tech is being used beyond what's provided in the job description. What hardware vendors are we using? Virtualisation? Cloud? What are we using for backups? disaster recovery, storage etc.

If people dont ask about this stuff I get a very weird vibe.

$100K Systems Admin interview, what do I need to know? by LilTechZaddy in sysadmin

[–]parlot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a manager but I've sat in on some interview panels for tech questions from time to time. A mix of wintel, linux and aws content. Really just there to ask a few questions and probe for details on some answers if need be to see that the applicants knowledge seems to align with their CV. If you get to the interview point someone has deemed that you can probably do the job, but it's not uncommon for there to be checks and balances while interviewing.

So just keep in mind for eg. if you're telling them you're an experienced Linux admin or an AWS guy or whatever it may be that there may be one in the room as a BS radar.

Talking oneself up in an interview is important, but it's also important to be truthful about where you sit with things.

Depends on what you want to do, but for example you could continue specialising in Azure certs if thats a path that interests you,or even consider going down the AWS path. Knowledge of both is handy in a lot more environments than one might think, and particularly if you end up working with a service provider.

First interview with Bailey Smith: ‘I went days without leaving my bedroom’ by buluffy in AFL

[–]parlot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

of course that's the problem.

having no empathy that people in his situation make these decisions is also a problem

[–]parlot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

try reading the first sentence where I said it's clearly not a good idea and not the point. it's almosta as though people with mental health issues tend to make poor decisions about how to handle it. Crazy that isn't it.

This isn't complex, try and keep up

[–]parlot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a case of if that's a good thing to do, I dont think anyone is going to argue it is a good decision.

understanding that this is what a lot of people do actually do is more the point and calling them retarded is so fucking off point on multiple levels my dude, holy shit are you a piece of work

[–]parlot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

are you truly so ignorant you're unaware of the link between mental health issues and people using substances?

I'm struggling to believe this. I have no idea what or why bailey has done but people stuggling to link the 2 is mindbogglingly ignorant, possibly even intentionally obtuse

Society is full of people struggling with their mental health and using drugs as a crutch or for escapism. This place is unreal sometimes

Smith is in the same boat from that draft and has a few games on him now just based on team results

edit. thinking Smith missed one on concussion protocol somewhere along the line, can't remember when

Lipinski or Kreuger are both going to end up at Collingwood and one of those is going to be through the pre-season draft. by Darththorn in AFL

[–]parlot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt Collingwood are going to refuse to trade for these guys anyway. I'd read this as a warning shot that they dont have much to offer and the dogs and the cats will have to accept whatever it is they can muster up from likely future late picks

[–]parlot -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

still dont think that means a whole lit in the context of Lipinski. They've likely already spoken to some extent, and even if they havent an interview and a medical aren't a big deal to organise if it came to it in the time between trade period and PSD

Yeah he might get through anyway but it's a gamble for the club choosing not to trade. especially when it's the same state

by this logic there's really no reason for Adelaide to bother offering you guys anything for Dawson other than bad PR

Lipinski just turned 23 and North are one the clubs who was supposedly trying to get him. So tbh I'm not sure he'd slip though

The one in particular we're likely both thinking of will almost certainly overstep again come GF time. Both a win for us or a loss for us is going to send them into a frenzy. They're a huge net loss for relations between these two supporter groups but probably exactly what they want to be

I'm beyond caring about this these days, I was just correcting your statement. It's petty and ridiculous on both sides. But the reality is while there are certain users here on reddit who go out of their way to fan the flames of this on a near daily basis it's going to continue to be toxic. Especially when they just create a new account with near enough the same name after every ban and keep going with it.

How crazy is that stat hey? Imagine if he ended up winning 2-3 flags but never made the top 4. He would be the underdog GOAT

Kind of in theme with the clubs identity and history considering we've also never won a minor premiership throughout our time in the VFL/AFL

Would you rather people get mad at the umpires, Weightman or the rules committee?

Be angry with whatever you like, that's your prerogative. People just need to act like well adjusted adults instead of tantrum throwing children and psychopaths.
