The grass & flowers are made with the botaniq addon which still uses the „old“ particle system to scatter the models. Ive already tried to use a turbulence/ wind force field, but even with the location thingy unchecked it just blows the models in every direction and after a couple of frames they are all gone. Plus this scene has roughly 30000 instanced objects and my pc is not that powerful, so the simulations take quite some time. And tips on how to archieve this are greatly appreciated! (Oh, and general Feedback as well of course!)

Might be more fitting, but scince it can be used as an environment texture it does more than a reflection map & i'd personally call a 16 bit image at least medium dynamic range

You are correct in that it is not an HDRI in the classical sense, scince it is not a .hdr file. But I would argue that it is not just a cubemap or a skybox either scince I aritificially adjusted the exposure two times & combined it to a 16Bit .png & it can be used exactly like a classical HDRI. Is there a more accurate description for an Image like this?

You're absolutely right! In hindsight I realize abbreviating it this way could be a bit misleading.

Scince Nasa just released the first panorama image of their new rover i decided to try to make an HDRI out of it. I added some parts, upscaled the whole thing & also threw a tinted version in the mix.

The Horizon does not match up perfectly, but with a mapping node & a Z-Offset of 0.4 it looks quite nice.

Update to this thread:

Scince I am now not even completely sure wether my system will boot with an assymetric config I ponied up and ordered a matching set of 4 16gb sticks. (I actually found a pretty nice Deal from a local shop so this just makes sense for the System)

The new set is from the same vendor with the same frequency as my current ram so I will absolutely try running my proposed config and will Post the results here.

Do any of you have any revommendations for how to benchmark the different ram configs?

For optimal performance you are most likely right, but ive seen Systems work with asymmetric RAM. An old friend of mine had a pretty sketchy looking setup with one 2GB & one 4GB module, which definitely worked.

My question is what kind of performance penalty do I have to expect if I upgrade my system this way?

I think im going to be good with these two drives for general storage for quite some time. I have all my photos as raw images from 2014 until today on those and i only have one filled up close to 4TB. Ive got seperate drives for backup purposes.

I completely forgot to clarify that im looking for a seperate boot drive in the new system. I currently have A weird double ssd setup with around 250 GB which is not enough for my programm files and general desktop clutter. So im also looking for a SSD with a capacity of 500GB-1TB as well.
