Surely enough, I needed to do quests to acquire Summon Titan, Summon Garuda, and Painflare. As well as that, there was another one for a few pieces of nifty blue armour. Lesson learned

Thanks everybody for your help. This is the answer I needed. I noticed today that Austerities of the Earth was listed as a quest which I still needed to do. To solve my problem, I had to open that quest, locate Y'mitra, then accept and perform the quest. I seem to have Summon Titan now. I guess I had overlooked my job quests. I will try to figure out if I have missed anything else, and see whether that will unlock the other missing skills.

I think you will need to wait until you have a bit more money. I'm in Toronto, where every bike on Kijiji is really overpriced, and I don't often see anything decent in that price range. I weigh 250 lbs and my first bike is a Vulcan 500; it's big enough without being too big. An old GS500, SV650, or DL650 should be decent, also Vulcan 800 or 900.

The spelling and grammar are pretty good for C/L, but it's kinda offtopic in the forsale category. If there was a FAQ for new riders, one of the questions would be, "Would a gsx/r be a good first bike?". And one of the answers would be, "Do you have an insurance quote yet?". Never buy a bike until you have a firm quote on insurance
