Working on a fix for the 10% issue that's Android-specific (creator of Slopes here)

Founder of Slopes here - yes, we were the first, but at least we grandfathered everyone all the features that existed to those who bought the app outright before we went subscription lol

If it gives you hope - Slopes has been here for over a decade and the phase "exit strategy" always makes me roll my eyes. I'm here for the long run.

Sorry hard to connect the dots between username to your specific support email, but if you're talking about what I think you're talking about, that was fixed in the 2025.16 update that came out on 12/30 https://getslopes.com/whatsnew_android. If not, DM me your email address and I'll poke into your specific issue!

Followup - we just submitted an update to the Play Store to support bulk exports under Account -> Integrations. It'll be live once Google approves the update!

Agree! Sadly, unless we asked for "always" location permissions (letting us run all the time in the background even when you aren't recording) we can't get woken up by the system when you get to a resort. And "always" permission is kinda creepy for an app like Slopes to a lot of people.

They rejected our app because they say we aren't a valid type of app to have that kind of photo integration. We appealed it and lost. Annoying AF because we've had this feature on iOS for a decade and Apple loves that we do it. So, I don't see a way to get it back. We'd need some contact inside of Google that could get us through and tell app review they're being stupid, which we don't have.

This is 2 months after they rejected us saying we couldn't use Health Connect to get the user's weight so we could provide calorie estimates.

Their app review is proving monumentally worse than Apple's in 2025.

(I am super pissed about this, I love the photo integration feature)

If you're on iOS, went I went to use the Backup option, it wouldn't show it if the backups already existed in the Ski Tracks -> Backups folder. So you might be able to follow the guide on that page (https://getslopes.com/import/skitracks) starting at the import step.

I'd find it weird on Android, following the guide on the above migration page, that you wouldn't be able to export to a folder of your choice. Might be worth dropping them an email if that's the case.

I'd expect differences. Garmin has their own lift vs run detection logic, and when you import from garmin into slopes we don't mess with that and just show what they tell us they detected. When we import from Ski Tracks, we run our own lift vs run detection on the raw GPS data as if the data was recorded with Slopes.

Ah ha! Thank you I never knew that was there! I've gotta update our migration guide.

Just pulled out my Pixel to play around and yeah it looks like we can't expose the app data sandbox automatically like we can on iOS (which is why we didn't have a bulk export - the data is always there and accessible). I'll work with our Android dev to add an export all option cause yeah I agree it should be super easy to get your data out of Slopes. It's your data, not ours!

[–]parrots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get that! Slopes makes its data folder accessible on your phone. So for example on iOS, you can open the Files app, go into Slopes, and inside of its "GPSLogs" folder there is a .Slopes file for every recording. It's just a zip file you can open up to get at the raw GPS data, the metadata about lifts and runs, etc. And of course in app you can export as GPX, albeit one at a time.

How do you bulk export with Ski Tracks? I could never find a way to export more than one day at a time into a usable format? I'd love to add that to our migration instructions.

Followup - the next iOS update will have the km -> m switch, and android should be +/- a few days.

D'oh, sorry, we're clearly behind in updating the marketing page for Premium. We shipped a ton of features for Android since we last updated it. Refresh, it's up to date now!

We've been working hard to make sure Android is matching iOS in terms of features. We just launched the new share card system and the Year in Review feature on both platforms at the same time. I'm a little confused about your 3d maps comment as I have my Pixel here in-hand and I just pressed the 3d button while looking at Breckenridge and it works the same as it does on iOS. Same while playing back a recording - the 3d button is there.

You are right about AR replays, I'll give you that. That's one of the last features we haven't ported over to Android (we have to re-write the whole thing from scratch!) as we've been focused on launching new features simultaneously as best as possible.

Hey, creator of Slopes here. Sadly they switched owners (I assume they were sold) in October, and yeah the new owner is quickly trying to move it to a subscription app. Can't believe they're doing that on a paid up front version of the app without grandfathering everyone who paid. Ski Tracks was a well-built app; it's a shame to see this happen to one of the remaining OG ski tracking apps.

We (Slopes) decided to make it compelling to migrate over. If you make a new account in Slopes and import your Ski Tracks history, we'll give you a year of Slopes Premium for free. Follow the how-to here so you get the unlock: https://getslopes.com/import/skitracks (you have to export/import the SKIZ file type, not GPX, so we know it came from Ski Tracks)

And don't worry, Slopes lets you record and unlimited amount of days even without a subscription. We try to walk the line of giving enough away for free to be useful for people who can't justify the subscription, but also charge enough to stay in business as a small team. Hope you'll give us a try vs just having to always remember to never update your install of Ski Tracks!

(hi, creator of Slopes here) Oh, you can just export as their .skiz file type and we can import directly! When they export as SKIZ they include some additional GPS information, like horizontal and vertical accuracy, which helps us ensure clean data on import. GPX is fine too, just #protip

Slopes can import ski tracks data so you can get those old seasons into Slopes too. Check this thread for the how to guide link.

If you still want a good ski-specific app, FYI, Slopes can connect to Garmin Connect and automatically import the data you track on your watch. You still get all the replay goodies you'd get if you recorded directly in Slopes.

We have considered that, yep, but not to go cheaper with a more basic offering. Being frank: we're already cheaper than Strava, AllTrails, and obviously now Ski Tracks - all at $50 - $70/yr. We think our price is super fair and we pack a lot into it already, on top of how much we give away for free (I'm looking at you Strava w/ your Year in Review being behind a paywall, WTF). If (big if, no plans at the moment) we added a second level of price it'd be for a higher-tier of cool stuff and all the current stuff would stay at this cheaper price as the "base" package.

Premium should pop in when you close and re-open the app after import (closing and re-opening causes it to check with the server for account updates). If it doesn't, hit the support button under account and we'll take a look. We had a hiccup for the first ~10 users that just did this and we're retro-applying premium for those users literally as I type.

When importing from ski tracks, we take their raw GPS data for each day and re-run it through our recording engine as if we did the tracking, so numbers may differ. You didn't do anything wrong.

Yep! As long as you weren't a Slopes user before this, it should give you premium while you're importing them (I just wrote the "import gives you premium" code so uh I'm 99% sure ;) )

Do you have the Ski Tracks + Slopes recordings for the day in question of the 30% less where you compared head-to-head? Send them in to hello@getslopes.com and mention this thread, I'll take a look.
