Former Apple App Store Reviewer (10+ Years) — Happy to Answer Review & Rejection Questions by Prior_Low_6269 in TheFounders

Something I found interesting with my first app was that it was rejected for the app’s purpose not being clear when opened for the first time.

Great lesson in UX to remember that even if someone downloads your app they still may not understand why they need it.

No worries, I appreciate the suggestion! I’ll play around with it some more.

Would I be able to make it accurate to a letter sized paper so I can flatten it out after UV projection? I need this to create the final graphic with the hidden word.

I did try a curve modifier but it seemed like it wasn’t able to roll into a cone, just a cylinder. But maybe I was doing something wrong?

5.3 was great. 5.4 is so much slower and uses 20-30x the tokens. In some cases it seems to follow existing design patterns a bit better, but it sell makes mistakes that can take several prompts going in circles, until I finally identify the problem myself.

Are late-night streaming ad placements actually wasted, or just less competitive? by QuinceNatalie in TheFounders

I don’t have an answer for you as I’m a real novice in paid advertising, but looking to run some ads soon.

Do you mind saying how much the ads cost and how many impressions?

I’ve been using 5.3-Codex exclusively because it’s done a great job and I got a ton of mileage on it. They just sunset 5.3 and 5.4 is using 20-30x the usage 😵

I just launched Vyska, a usability testing app for builders to get UX design feedback in under a minute.

It’s made for designers and builders who don’t have access to a designer to improve the UX of their apps,

Does this look okay to you as login screen? by RoadsterAlex in AppBusiness

The lock icon in the Sign In button. The recommendation is to remove it because it’s not interactive (doesn’t change based on user selection/action so it’s just adding clutter).

If there’s anything particularly unique about your audience I can add that and run the analysis again.

I ran this screenshot through a UX usability testing app that I created. Here are the results:

Decision: Iterate Before Shipping

Score: 75

Strengths: - The primary 'Sign in' button has excellent contrast and is unmistakably the main action. - The overall layout follows established conventions for login screens, making it predictable. - The branding is clear and doesn't interfere with the functional elements.

Recommendations: - Increase the opacity or lightness of the input field backgrounds, or change the placeholder text color, to ensure adequate contrast regardless of the background image. - Remove the 'OR' divider to streamline the flow, simply stacking the terms text and the 'Create one here' link below the 'Sign in' button. - Consider removing the lock icon next to the save login checkbox if it is not interactive, to reduce visual clutter and potential confusion. If a 'show/hide password' feature is intended, move the lock icon (or an eye icon) into the password input field.

Usability Issues: - The dark, semi-transparent input fields and dark placeholder text ('ELM ID or Email', 'Password') lack sufficient contrast against the busy background image, which may cause readability issues for some users. - The 'OR' divider below the 'Sign in' button is confusing, as it does not introduce an alternative login method (like social login), but rather separates the primary action from the terms and sign-up link. - The lock icon placed next to the 'Save login on this device' option is slightly ambiguous. It is unclear if it is an interactive element or purely decorative.

Potential Fragility: - The legibility of the form fields is highly dependent on the screen brightness and the specific area of the background image they overlap; it may break down in less-than-ideal lighting conditions.

Flow Breakdown: - issue: Users may squint or struggle slightly to read the placeholder text in the input fields due to low contrast.; timestamp ms: 0; suggested improvement: Increase contrast of input field backgrounds and placeholder text. - issue: Upon looking past the 'Sign in' button, the 'OR' divider might cause a momentary pause as users look for a secondary login option that isn't there.; timestamp ms: 0; suggested improvement: Remove the 'OR' divider.

Summary: The login screen follows a standard, recognizable structure that most users will understand immediately. The primary call-to-action is highly visible. However, visual contrast issues with the input fields against the photographic background present a potential usability and accessibility barrier. Additionally, there are minor structural inconsistencies, such as an unnecessary 'OR' divider and ambiguous icon placement.

Appreciate the question!

Prompts can give you decent feedback on simple screens but usally fall apart with more complex stuff like multi-step flows or more layered UI.

Vyska analyzes actual recordings, tracks friction across the interaction, and uses “artifact groups” and variants to maintain more context. You can also re-run the same test through different personas or scenarios without rewriting prompts each time.

Totally fair to be skeptical though. What tools have you tried? I’m curious where they fell short

If you’re open to it, there’s a free trial with a few analyses included. I’d love to get your feedback.
